The Way Of The Saints - All the reviews recommended barefoot and they were right. I’m 60+ with a few issues but I made it. Ray split the 4 miles with stops of 10 minute bursts of history. Our group gelled well and chatted together all the way. Ray drove back, after we had a sneaky drink in the pub. I loved it.

Walking the Pilgrims’ Route to Holy Island was peaceful, reflective, and full of quiet beauty. Our guide, Ray, was outstanding — kind, knowledgeable, and full of fascinating historical insight that brought the landscape to life. I came away feeling calm, connected, and deeply grateful. Excellent, interesting and great fun - I had wanted to walk across the sand to Holy Island from being a child. Northumbria Heritage made the journey magical! Ray told us the stories of Cuthbert, Aidan, Bede and Edwin. We walked from pole to pole, always safe, always at the best pace for the group. I highly recommend this trip Ruth

Fabulous Pilgrims Path walk to Holy Island - A fantastic walk with an excellent guide. Ray was very informative as we walked the Pilgrims Path and the view were stunning. We stopped often for stories and to learn about the history of Holy Island and the surrounding areas. The group even sang happy birthday to my friend as this was a gift for her, which was lovely. We walked bare foot and are so pleased we did. It does get a little slippy in some places but otherwise a brilliant experience. We then spent time on Holy Island and had lovely food at the Ship Inn before being driven back across by Ray. A memory to treasure!

Walking to Holy Island with Ray was a fantastic experience - A perfect day and a very small group. My wife and I along with our little dog Phoebe and another couple from Scotland. We all thoroughly enjoyed the walk and our visit to Holy Island. Ray was wonderful as he recounted the lengthy history of the surroundings and later brought us back to the mainland before the tide came in. This is definitely the best way to experience Holy Island. Highly recommended.

Holy Island - It was optional however, to walk across the sands barefoot was an experience in itself added to that the historical input from the guide and in the knowledge of the pilgrims who walked the same path was an experience I'm glad we had.

Amazing experience even in 40mph winds! - This was my ‘must do’ activity whilst visiting Northumberland and it looks like the weather was against us with rain and high winds forecast. Ray was happy for the tour to go ahead as long as the rain passed which it did. And what an experience it was. I was welcomed into the group of 7 walkers being the only solo person booked on. The weather conditions made it tough and slow going in places. Ray did his utmost to tell his stories as we went but had to finish some when we reached the island. I opted to wear my walking shoes due to the cold weather but they did get conpletely soaked at the final section when we had to go through calf height water. The walk was rated easy on the booking page but as someone who regularly walks over 20k steps a day I would say this rating is entirely dependent on the conditions on the day. Thanks Ray for a memorable experience.

Historic and enlightening tour - The walk across the tidal plains to Holy Island, Lindisfarne is rewarding, informative and an experience to be treasured. Ray our pilgrim guide was encouraging as to the challenge, knowledgeable in the storied history and passionate of this famous place of Christianity. His stories of St Aiden and St Cuthbert, were inspiring and educational. Not to mention the plethora of Kings or rogues as Ray would described that are so influential in Northumberland. An excellent tour.
