Incredible experience - This is certainly the best experience on offer in the Hakaui Valley! Tanguy and Ana are amazing and introduce you to both the valley and their way of life in it. Accessible to people who can walk for three hours, the hike ends with a shared meal at the guest house. Not to be missed in Nuku Hiva!

Incredible. So friendly, informative and generous. Lentils were delicious. Lots of history Ana spoke great English too - Fabulous experience! Unfortunately I was under the weather but my 3 family members went and came back bubbling over with enthusiasm and excitement. Food was delicious as well Definitely recommend it!

The best experience of our trip in Polynesia! - It was better than expected. While the hike was beautiful and adventurous (we crossed the river a few times), meeting Tangy and Ana was the highlight of the day. They were truly welcoming and willing to share their marquesan culture with us. Ana guided us to the waterfall following a pathway built by Tangy's Ancestors. She explained us their way of life, customs and language along the way. We then had a delicious lunch cooked by Tangy in their garden. The day flew by and it was already time to say good bye. We wish we could have stayed longer. Also make sure to check the amazing artwork they create, Cannibal Art. I recommend at 1000%!

Educational and fantastic beautiful hike. - It was a huge experience that knew something in several aspects. We were welcomed in Ana and Tangys home in the beautiful village, which almost lie in a small oasis. Then fantastic beautiful hike out towards the waterfall. Ana told about the history of the valley as well as her own and Tangys history, about the culture through time and the evolution of time. Very interesting.🙏 We finished with the most amazing food in their beautiful garden, where the TV has been replaced by the mountain goats walking over the hillside. Can definitely recommend the trip.👍♥️👍

Do Not Miss! - Excellent trek into the culture and lush jungle landscape of Nuku Hiva. Be prepared for a rugged, 12 km hike, with river crossings and extensive rocky, slippery sections (do take the proffered walking stick). You will get wet, just disembarking from the boat in the surf as well as the river crossings along the trail. But If you're fit and without mobility limitations, your effort will be rewarded with magnificent mountain and forest vistas, along with a primer on life in a remote (you start with an exhilarating 10-km open ocean, open cockpit boat ride) island valley. Guides Anna and Tanguay (look for the guy with the face tattoos) live largely off their land in this sparsely populated valley, much as his family has for, well, forever. Take your cellphone for pictures but forget about texting friends back home. Surviving the trek back, we were reinvigorated with a delicious lunch of rice, green papaya salad, a lentil/coconut dish, and a super wild goat stew. Tanguay had just killed the goat the night before. The boat got us back to town by 4 pm, for a seven-hour tour,in plenty of time for last tender back to our cruise ship.

A MUST DO EXPERIENCE! - A MUST DO experience when in Nuku Hiva! This is the perfect tour for learning everything there is to know about the Marquisian culture and history, as well as absorbing the breathtaking views of the Hakaui Valley. And if you’re like us and don’t speak very good French, Anna also does the tour in English which was great. Anna and Tangy were the perfect hosts, it was truly a privilege getting to know them and having them share their life and story with us was the cherry on the top (plus an INCREDIBLE home made lunch)

Amazing tour of the beautiful Hakaui Valley - The views are out of this world. Entering the valley is like traveling back in time where man was one with nature. So many relics, Pai Pais, remain of the vast Polynesian culture and Ana was so informative and answered all of are questions patiently. To get to the valley need to take a boat ride from Nuku Hiva. Ana was waiting for us on the beach and took as to hers and Tangy’s beautiful home in the valley for refreshments before the tour. The Valley itself is breathtaking and after an hour and half hike we reached the waterfall which is very majestic even though we visited at the end of the rainy season. Ana was great tour guide and even volunteered to take our pictures when we went under the waterfall. We then returned to Ana and Tangy’s home for a full cooked lunch that was so tasty. If you are lucky, you might see one of Tangy’s beautiful carvings that his currently working on and if you are very lucky, you might be able to purchase one of his beautiful works of art. Need to take both sandals and hiking shoes to protect your feet as the terrain is full of rocks and there are multiple river crossings during the hike. Had an amazing day in an enchanting valley.

Awesome day in beautiful valley of Hakaui - Ana and Tangy are really friendly and fun hosts. We spent great day discovering the beautiful valley of Hakaui. Ana was the best guide. Not only is the nature on the way to waterfall just amazing, she also explained a lot a about history and cultural significance of sights we saw on the way. Our lunch was made by Tangy and it was delicious, prepared with fruits and veggies directly from their garden. This excursion is a must if you ever come to Nuku Hiva
