Memorable - Really well organised. Amazing scenery. Lovely complimentary cocktails. Very informative commentary. Unfortunately the train broke down twice which caused a huge delay. Luckily we weren’t inconvenienced, but this problem does need to be factored in if you are in a tight schedule. We had a very colourful dance duo entertain us on the train.

St Kitts Railway tour - Cars rock a bit, views/info was good on the train. 2 drinks, one small cake/snack. 45 mins for the bus tour part. Cost is the only negative.

Scenic Railway - Whilst we enjoyed the scenic train trip it is very old and broke down twice during our journey. The 3 hour trip almost took 5 hours.

A rainy day had a big impact on the trip - If it rains there will likely be disruption to the trip. We waited over an hour for the final passengers to arrive at the starting point. The upstairs carriages had not been kept dry.

Highs and lows. Don’t take in the rain - Very educational but not many pleasant views in the rain. Some
Basic information they have taken an old narrow gauge industrial train and converted it to tourist use. I think its 18” gauge maybe 2’ and as such will have to be bumpy and jerky. The cars are relatively short as well which will add to the jerkyness as will putting a second level on.
That being said they have done their best, and since the track was put down at the sugar cane fields it’s not going to go to all touristy locations.
We arranged through cruise line and there were 10 busses of passengers on the train. Our bus driver gave an excellent background on the island and in many way was better than the tour guide in the train. It was about 30 minutes on the bus before the train and another 20 minutes after the train.
The train ride would have been fine but once it started to rain we got really wet. Some marvelous pictures if it hadn’t been raining.

Diesel fumes - Expensive. The smell of diesel is very strong whilst the train is moving. We were denied permission to sit in another carriage. The train carriages needs maintenance and a lick of paint.

Multiple Cancellations- mechanical problems - This really is less a review of the tour (which we would expect to be 4 - 5 stars but a comment on availability. We were booked for Monday 27 Jan, got rebooked to Wed 29 Jan, and finally to Friday 31 Jan - all were cancelled:
“We do apologize but the train tour is cancelled for tomorrow. The mechanics have not been completed.”
Hopefully repairs will be completed - hope to take this tour on our next visit!

Canceled - Trip was canceled due to mechanical issues. If they can get the train operational This could be a very enjoyable ride both aesthetically and historically.

The Little Engine That Couldn't (and Didn't) - Where to start? This St. Kitts Scenic Train Tour never happened despite the fact that we booked it weeks in advance. I don't know where to place the blame, but I think there's enough to go around. We (a family group of five adults) booked and paid through Tripadvisor for a Monday afternoon departure, which we'd scheduled for our second full day on the island so we'd get a sense of places we might want to re-visit later in the week. But several days before we left for St. Kitts, we heard from a different tour outfit (Viator; I don't know if there's a business relationship with Tripadvisor there) that the guide narration on the trip we'd booked was going to be in German and they didn't have the headsets for an English translation. (Tripadvisor hadn't told us that.) They wanted us to re-book for a different departure. So we re-booked for the next available afternoon tour, which was two days later -- Wednesday. That wasn't ideal because it was going to cut into our time for re-visits, but we agreed. Then on Wednesday, when we reported to the pickup location, we were told there'd be a half-hour delay before the bus would arrive to take us to the start of the train tour. We could live with that, too ... except that 20 minutes later, we were informed that the Wednesday afternoon tour was canceled altogether. No explanation. After some confusing emails back and forth with the second tour operator (Viator), we were offered a Friday morning excursion. That was our last full day on the island, but we agreed to it because we still hadn't seen much of St. Kitts outside of our resort. (We'd postponed doing a different island tour because we'd paid for the Scenic Train Tour.) So ... Thursday night, an email comes in from Viator: Yep, the Friday morning tour was canceled, too. Extremely frustrating. The only positive I can mention out of the whole very aggravating experience is that the refund of our tickets for the original itinerary came promptly. Bottom line: Be VERY wary of counting on the Scenic Train Tour.

Give this adventure a pass! - Not recommended. Our train was stopped on the tracks for 55 minutes. Ride is very rocky and uneven, and even feels unsafe. Track is 100 years old and has not been adequately maintained. Maintenance seems to be clearing the brush from the side of the tracks. Sound system was completely inaudible from inside. Staff try hard to please, but train/bus ride is just not worth the expense. Such a shame!
