Highlights
  • Explore Catalunya - 8.15am - Begin your day at our main office, conveniently located next to the renowned Palau de la Musica. Meet your guide, take a restroom break, and perhaps grab a quick coffee before the tour starts. Your guide will outline the day’s itinerary and what to expect as you wait for the tour to commence.

  • Eixample - 8.30am - Depart Barcelona through the Eixample district. As you leave the city, your guide will provide a brief history of Barcelona, then you can relax during the 60-minute drive to Vic.

  • Montseny - 9.00am - Head north from Barcelona, quickly leaving the bustling Mediterranean city behind. As you ascend the Pyrenees, you’ll pass Montseny, a 30,000-hectare natural park designated a UNESCO world biosphere reserve in 1978. The park is a sanctuary for wildlife such as wild boars, badgers, hares, foxes, red squirrels, eagles, and red partridges, thriving in its beech, pine, and oak forests.

  • Vic - 9.30am - Your first stop is the historic market town of Vic. Explore this medieval town with a guided tour, visiting the cathedral with its blend of Romanesque to neoclassical styles, the town’s impressive renaissance and baroque buildings, and the ancient Roman Temple hidden among the old quarter’s buildings. Afterwards, enjoy free time to have a coffee or breakfast in the town’s beautiful arched square, where markets and major events are still held.

  • Queralbs - 12.30pm - After Vic, head to the stone-built mountain village of Queralbs, the last accessible point by road. Leave the minivan and take the rack railway with your guide up to the Nuria Valley. This picturesque valley, with its lake and lush green pastures surrounded by high peaks, is one of the most beautiful in the Pyrenees. Enjoy several hours to explore at your leisure. Choose from various hiking trails suitable for different fitness levels. While good physical fitness is not required for this tour, a reasonable level is needed. Alternatively, you can opt for local activities (at your own expense) such as horse riding or boating, or dine at one of the traditional Catalan restaurants (at your own expense). Refer to the itinerary for details of available activities. When it’s time, return to Barcelona, ending your trip at the starting point.

  • Vall de Nuria - 12.50pm - The Nuria Valley features a stunning lake and vibrant green pastures encircled by high peaks. This picturesque valley is one of the Pyrenees’ most beautiful spots. Admire the scenery from the train and, upon arrival, spend several hours exploring as you wish. Follow your choice of hiking trails suitable for various fitness levels, such as the paths leading to the Valley Coma de Vaca. While good physical fitness is not a prerequisite for this tour, a reasonable level is required for the Coma de Vaca trails. Alternatively, choose from local activities (at your own expense) like horse riding or boating, or enjoy a meal (at your own expense) at one of the traditional Catalan restaurants.

  • Queralbs - 4.00pm - This small mountain village has only 200 permanent residents living in a charming collection of traditional stone houses. Perched on the mountainside, this quaint, picturesque hamlet is one of the day’s most memorable highlights. Here, you can also visit the Church of Sant Sadurní de Fustanyá, built from perfectly-hewn stones, with legends claiming it was constructed by the fairies and witches said to inhabit the nearby caves. After about an hour, we’ll head back to the bus and start our journey back to Barcelona.

  • Plaza de Catalunya - 7.00pm - Arrive back in Barcelona in time for dinner. Your guide will be happy to direct you to the nearest metro or help you find a taxi. If you’re staying in town, they can also provide restaurant recommendations.

Great escape to the mountains - Had a wonderful day with Noo going into the Pyrenees and stopping to see a medieval town, a mountain village of stone and then a high Pyrenees valley. Noo was a very informative guide and her knowledge of the country, sites, and culture far exceeded our expectations. Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Barcelona!

Excursion you’ll remember for forever - Out of all of our excursions this one was our favorite. It was nice to get out of the busy city and go into nature. The views are spectacular but the history was my favorite part. We stopped in Vic on the way which showed an ancient Roman building, still intact. Then after the mountain hike we then went to another small village that was like no other. I didn’t want to leave, it was just perfect. Martha was our guide and she was perfect! She was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and very kind.
