Additional Information

During our Hidden Gems tour, we aim to discover lesser-known parts of the city by biking through stylish local districts such as El Born and Poblenou.

Poblenou, being Barcelona’s most cycle-friendly district, boasts an array of bike paths, serene streets, and even multiple vehicle-free zones. It is also a home to some of the top architectural marvels of the Catalan capital including the unique cucumber-shaped skyscraper, Torre Glories, and others.

Despite the modern structures adorning the neighborhood, Poblenou retains its distinctive local charm with its vibrant rambla, picturesque village squares, verdant parks and must-visit food markets.

We also traverse through the quaint Old Town district known for its tight-knit medieval alleys, grand Gothic churches and dynamic terraces brimming with locals enjoying tapas and cervezas.

Our guides will lead you to some of the city’s hidden gems, overlooked monuments, urban art and secluded corners, before pausing for a drink at a neighborhood market, tapas bar or chiringuito (beach bar).

Fun bike tour with Alejandra - Alejandra was a fantastic guide for our family! She was friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. She showed us interesting places we wouldn’t have found on our own and shared Catalan history and culture with us. Thank you for a great afternoon!

Memorable bike tour with Alejandra - We spent a wonderful bike tour with Alejandra! All along the afternoon, she passed on to us her passion for this multi-faceted city and we got to see Barcelona spots we would’ve thought of visiting. We learned lots along the way on life in the city, history and street-art. The stop for tapas in Els Sortidor del Parliament was an even nicer touch to this active afternoon.

So much fun! - Ale was such a great guide! We had such a fun time with her. We both saw and learned a lot, and had a lot of laughs! I loved seeing things I wouldn't see on a run of the mill tour and feeling like I was with friends!

Interesting and varied bike tour - Fantastic tour seeing parts of the city we probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Loved finding out some history and local facts. Alejandra’s English was great and she couldn’t have been more helpful. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Very insightful - Mariana was a delightful guide and have us a very personalised and insightful tour; as we were a “private” tour she was very flexible to take us both where we wanted to go and to offer a suggested itinerary. Altogether it was entertaining and fascinating and I thank our guide for being so accommodating.

Great Time - Alex did a great job as our tour guide, thank you very much! Liked the 2nd half of the tour the best, more stops and more interesting narration. Thanks Alex!

Loved the bike tour with Alex - One of my favorite activities in Barcelona thus far! Alex was a great guide! Hes super knowledgeable about the development of the city and how things cane to be—which was really cool to hear about. I thought my friends and I already saw enough local experiences but i was so wrong. Alex showed us so much more to local areas in Barcelona that we never wouldve seen otherwise. Amazing.

Poorly maintained bikes and a problematic tour guide - We signed up for this trip on the basis of strong reviews on Viator and TripAdviser but were sorely disappointed. First, it was difficult to get to the meeting point due to inaccurate information given and the construction going on nearby. the normal passway to the meeting spot was blocked off by a construction and the signs for roundabout were poorly marked and almost impossible for out-of-towners to figure out. The store front did not even have any sign for "Ocean Bikes" so even people working near by could not help us find the place. We contacted the tour operator as we stumbled around the area trying to find the place but did not hear back until after the tour was already over. We waited half an hour before starting the bike tour for people who end up being no-shows but I bet these people had the same difficulty finding the meeting point as we did. The bikes were poorly maintained. My bike had a broken kickstand and without a bell (which made it a semi-suicide mission to be led through crowded, narrow back alleys in the Old Town). The gears of my husband's bike stopped working mid-tour. The tour guide (Mariana)'s English was hard to follow and she was not very good about making sure that the three children (not ours) in the group were keeping up with us through the crowded back alleys of the Old Town and negotiating the various traffic lights. We almost lost a family within the group as a result. She was yacking with someone in the group about things that had nothing to do with the tour itinerary or Barcelona, wasting a lot of others' time waiting for them to finish their "private" conversations. She hawked us ad nauseum about her other business, a boat tour guide. She was texting on the phone as she was leading us through less traffic-heavy places. I had read great reviews about some of the tour guides so I surmise a lot depends on who you get as tour guide. Between our bad luck in getting Mariana and the poor up-keeps of the bikes (and the lack of communication about how to get there and warning about the construction in the area), I would not recommend this trip to my family and friends at least.

Hard to find the meeting point, poorly maintained bike and unprofessional director. - First off, the direction to the meeting point was poorly described. There was no warning of construction that messed up the GPS and obstructed the way to the meeting point. There was a huge roundabout (poorly marked also) but no warning about it. The name of the business Ocean Bikes was not even on the store front so no locals knew what we were looking for to help us. We sent the tour operator three messages but we did not receive a response until way after the meeting time. Good thing we got the general vicinity half an hour early so we could afford to stumble around for an hour finally to find the spot. We had to wait half an hour for two others who signed up before finally departing without them. I bet they were having the same trouble we encountered. The bikes were poorly maintained. the one given to me had a broken kick stand and did not have a bell (which made it scary when the director had to bike through narrow, crowded back alleys. I had to keep shouting to the pedestrians pretty much through that whole phase through the crowded Old Town streets). My partner's bike's gears stopped working during the tour. The tour director (Mariana)'s English was marginal and hard to understand. She would keep chatting with one particular guest about things that did not have anything to do with the tour or Barcelona and wasted a lot of time. She was not not good about staying with bikers (including three children) when biking through town and we lost them a few times. She was going too fast when we biked through crowded narrow back alleys and it was an accident waiting to happen. Between the poorly maintained bikes, a not very professional tour director and the extremely poor direction to the meeting spot, I will never recommend it to anytone. We signed up based on good reviews so I surmised a lot depend on who your tour director is.
