- Tomb of Emperor Tang Gaozong (Qianling) - Following a delightful lunch at a carefully chosen local restaurant, proceed to the Qianling Mausoleum of the Tang Dynasty. This is the shared tomb of Emperor Gaozong and his empress, Wu Zetian, the only female ruler in Chinese history who assumed power after Gaozong. The tomb is remarkably well-preserved and is the only one that has remained untouched by tomb raiders. The design of Qianling mirrors the city of Chang’an (the ancient name of Xi’an) and follows the traditional north-south axis.
