Ijen - Mount Ijen is an active volcano in East Java, standing at 9,117 feet above sea level. It is a complex mountain spanning three cities. The mountain features a stunning sulfur lake at the top, surrounded by sulfur walls. The lake is one of Indonesia’s potion lakes, with temperatures exceeding 60 degrees Celsius and a high sulfur content. Reaching the summit requires about a 2-hour walk, but caution is advised as the path can be narrow and slippery in places. Additionally, Mount Ijen is home to many sulfur miners who can assist if any issues arise during the trip. Besides the lake and sulfur, Mount Ijen has a new attraction called the Blue Flame, or “api biru” in the local language. The blue flame is not a natural phenomenon but occurs due to a crack in a sulfur pipe.
