Absolutely amazing, couldn’t recommend enough! - Wow. Traventuria have been world class. I couldn’t not recommend them enough.
If like me a few months ago, you’re looking to book your first ski trip or your first trip to Bansko, Bulgaria - hopefully this review will help.
I didn’t know where to start with transfers from Sofia airport which is where I first found Traventuria who offer group or private airport transfers, this led me to find their ski package deals where you get: hotel (with breakfast), transfers, lift pass, equipment hire and lessons in one bundle. As this was my first time booking a ski holiday myself I went for the package for ease knowing one company would be looking after everything and be able to answer any questions. When I booked the package (we went for 3* hotel deal) we thought it was great value.
Having now been here for 4 days and spoken to various people on chairlifts who have booked independently or via Balkan Holidays, Crystal Ski etc. I can confirm it wasn’t just great value, but a bargain!
Hotel: we got put in Hotel IDA which they say they will aim for but if not something similar and it’s been great. It’s basic but has everything you need, comfy bed, good breakfast, modern bathroom, mini fridge.
Transfer: we flew in the night before, stayed at the Best Western hotel (book direct, cheaper!) and then got a transfer the following day as we landed at midnight but it worked out so much cheaper. The transfer bus was punctual and comfy, with recliner chairs and aircon.
Equipment hire: Shoutout to Alex (Santa Claus) who sorted our lift passes and showed us how to put our boots on properly and managed to track down a coat we left on the transfer bus (for the one day we had without the coat, Alex let us borrow a coat free of charge, thank you!). The skis and boots were really good quality, shoutout to George the ski technician - he was great.
Top tip: pay that little extra for a locker (10 lev per day, 1 locker is good for 2 people) they are a game changer not having to carry all your equipment to and from the hotel and coming back to dry/warm boots, gloves, skis etc.!
Ski lessons: To be able to offer ski package holidays, Traventuria HAVE to use Ulen Ski School for group lessons. Our first 2 days we had a really poor instructor with a terrible attitude, we mentioned this to Annie and the next day we were in a different group with an incredible instructor - made such a difference. Can’t thank Annie enough for that as it really really helped our skiing.
However, if I was booking again, I would pay that little extra and get private lessons with Traventuria as you’d get more out of 2/3 days privately than you would with 3/6 days in a group.
In summary, if you’re looking to book a ski holiday to Bansko - use Traventuria. Unbelievable value, great equipment, incredible staff with world class customer service.
I have never written such a long review, which hopefully shows just how impressed we have been 😂

10 years on and still offering great service. - Great service, very knowledgeable and been there for years, used back in 2015. Happy to take credit cards. . When we were there they had later opening than many hire places. We skiied later to miss the huge gondola queues first thing in morning. Good if you want to store your gear there and put regular shoes back on - saves getting all the gear back to hotel.

Great place to hire ski gear - Fantastic service, very helpful staff and the equipment was in really good condition. As others have said, it's a shame other staff in Bankso aren't as cheerful and helpful. Will definitely use again

Great staff! - Staff were amazing! Service with a smile, super helpful, just lovely ☺️
All the kit was in good condition, the process was organised, couldn’t ask for more other than to spread that level of Bulgarian service to the rest of Bansko!!

Very professional no problems at all - I used these guys as they run a very helpful web site about Bansko, whilst their booking system has some “quirks” the service that the staff gave was second to none, indeed I’d say I enjoyed interacting with them as they seem to have a quirky sense of humour which is appreciated.
I rented skis, poles, helmets and ski passes for my teenage twins we went for the VIP stuff which was pretty much brand new no issues at all with the equipment.
Price wise it’s like everything at a ski resort it seems expensive but they all charge pretty much the same it’s the service that matters.
I did try to buy my own ski pas from them however their prices are higher than the cash desk by the gondola, however my experience with the gondola cash desk was terrible - first the vending machine didn’t work (long queue) then I queued again for another half hour to get to the cash desk only to have the shutters literally closed on me for some reason finally on the third attempt and another 45 minutes in a queue I got to buy my lift pass.
So in hindsight I’d have been better paying a few pounds more to buy it from these guys.

Excellent ski hire experience - 1st time in Bulgaria skiing, and did not take my own (very good) free ride skis. Researched hire places thoroughly and went for Traventiria because had a good range of ski brands I had heard of in their photos, and were cheaper than other options. Booked cheaper option with Traventiria as the cheap/ pricier difference was the age of the ski, and I was only skiing intermediate level with my son. Was able to look at the choices on the racks and pick a suitable all mountain ski. It was a very recent Blizzard Black Pearl 88, retail price £550 without bindings. Was not charged extra. Excellent ski, and excellent value hire. Buddy I was travelling with had same very good experience. Shop reassuringly organised and well staffed, English speaking staff, some with excellent English.

Excellent ski hire - We were a family group of 4 adults and 3 children and rented our ski equipment from Traventuria. The equipment they supplied was excellent (ranging from child learners to very competent adult skiers). The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The shop is close to the Gondola and they provided heated locker space so that our ski gear could be deposited there overnight.

Cool ski shop rental staff. - I was part of a large group that need to rent skiing and snowboarding equipment. There was 35+ people. The staff were efficient and friendly.
I would highly recommend this place.

Worst airport transfer! - Booked airport transfers with this company as used them in the past but this time was shocking. The pick up from the airport upon arrival to Sofia was OK. The transfer took around 3 hours. However, when we arrived in Bansko, our driver did not have a clue where our hotel is (even though they were given the name, weeks in advance and even though the hotel was a 2 minute drive from the ski gondola.
On the way back to Sofia, our transfer was supposed to pick us up from our hotel at 1:15am. We were stood outside at 1am and our transfer did not turn up on time. We rang them shortly after 1:15am to be told that there was a delay due to the driver needing sleep and that the transfer would be there at 1:50am. We told them that we had a flight to catch but the driver spoke little English. No text communicating this or no email. If we had not had rang, we would not have known there was a delay. 1:50am arrived and the driver had still not arrived. We rang again and was told they would be 10 minutes. Finally the driver arrived, an hour after schedule. Due to the delay, the driver was driving like an absolute maniac to try and make up time. We arrived to the airport with an hour to spare.
Would 100% not book again. No sorry, no nothing.
