• 11:30 AM: Proceed to Kanchanaburi, home to the River Kwai.

Train Market

Established in 1984, the Mae Klong train market, known locally as Talat Rom Hoop, offers seafood, poultry, spices, vegetables, and more. Vendors move their tables aside to allow the train to pass, then resume their business.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

The Damnoen Saduak floating market is a vibrant canal market where boats are laden with fresh, tropical fruits and vegetables sourced daily from nearby farmlands.

Kanchanaburi, The River Kwai

The River Kwai runs through Kanchanaburi and is associated with the “Death Railway,” constructed by prisoners of war captured by the Japanese during World War II. Following conquests in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, the Japanese brought in 140,000 POWs and over 200,000 forced laborers to complete a 415 km railroad. Many prisoners perished during its construction before the war ended.

Thailand Burma Railway Center

The Thailand–Burma Railway Center is a museum dedicated to the history of the Thailand–Burma Railway, built during WWII by POWs captured by the Japanese.

The Bridge Over the River Kwai

The Bridge over the River Kwai is part of the Death Railway, constructed by POWs during WWII, and gained fame from the 1957 film “Bridge on the River Kwai.”

Allied War Cemetery

The Allied War Cemetery is a memorial for 6,982 Allied POWs who lost their lives constructing the Death Railway. Their remains were relocated post-war to the current cemetery site.
