Well organised and very looked after, a magical opportunity which is like snorkeling in a tropical aquarium. - After a lot of research on snorkelling trips, I booked to go to Surin islands, I booked through Cha local guide who had the best prices and the SeaStar based trip was excellently organised. Straightforward pick up in Khao Lak, not too early or too far in advance. Breakfast buffet and drinks at the dock. Can pay by card at the dock. Given snorkel, masks and flippers, including the ability to get masks with lenses if you're short sighted. Towels and travel sickness pills also available on for everyone. Boat journey was 1.25 hours each way, yes a bit choppy but far more comfortable than a small speed boat or long tail. Even though there were 4 boats going, they docked on pairs in very spacious areas and away from other groups, there were plenty of fish and areas to explore. Went to 3 locations and spent 40+ mins snorkelling at each. Large crew on board helping everyone get on and out and with their equipment, including life guards on the roof. Drinks available throughout for free. Buffet lunch of a good standard and clear communication throughout. Worth taking a dry bag as it gets a bit wet or at least a plastic bag. Beach shoes useful but not essential. Everyone had a lifejacket and also offered floats if needed. There were 2 island stops, 1 for lunch and 1 to a Morgen island, both with toilets. They also had a photographer and offering copies of pictures at the end. Also had a further buffet at the end with dinner along with ice creams, pastries and drinks before the well organised transfers. Having done several snorkelling trips in several other countries this was the best on terms of organisation, staffing and equipment offered. The main event...the fish and the coral.. were outstanding, it was like swimming in a tropical aquarium and the best I've seen. Another family said the variety and abundance was better than the great barrier reef... I can't recommend the trip enough and am glad I went and ignored many of the concerns from people who hadn't been on this trip. It was a highlight and an amazing opportunity if you get the chance to do it.

Surin Islands the best for snorkeling - Of all the islands off of Phuket Surin Islands are the best for snorkeling. The reefs are beautiful and teaming with fish. The tour ran smoothly and we able to snorkel three times as well as swim and relax on the beach. We had a fabulous experience and highly recommend this tour.

Great day out - We really enjoyed the snorkelling opportunities. Plenty of room to enter and exit the water with help provided by staff. The meals provided were very good also. We did not feel overcrowded even though the boat was full.

A well organised (at times chaotic) day to remember. Well worth it! - We booked this trip after initially travelling to phi and the 4 islands trip via Tui while staying in Krabi. We loved the snorkelling on that trip and had heard that the similan and surin tours were better. The trip Tui were offering seemed quite expensive and as a family of 4 we were struggling to justify the cost. After a lot of looking online we stumbled on this one for 3/4 of the cost. We were quite apprehensive. But booked anyway via our hotel in Khao Lak. On arrival it was chaos, but very well organised. Breakfast and coffee on arrival in a big canteen of probably around 300 people. Check in was speedy and we were fitted with flippers and issued a wristband to determine what boat we were travelling on. Family photos were taken and we boarded the boat. On the boat we were handed snorkel and mask along with a towel. The journey to Similan took around 1.25 hrs and was a bit bumpy but the weather was good. Along the way we spotted some flying fish. We had 2 snorkel stops and 3 beach stops along with another canteen style lunch stop. The beaches and snorkelling was amazing we saw all sorts of fish the water was crystal clear and we even managed to see sea turtles.

Boat less than ideal - Islands, Beautiful! - We were picked up from our hotel at 7:10 AM and arrived at the pier shortly after 7:35 AM. This meant a 6 AM alarm and a rushed start to the day. Upon arriving at the pier, we had to wait for others to arrive, as some passengers were coming from Phuket. As a result, we didn’t set off until 9 AM. I find it puzzling why we needed to wake up and leave so early only to wait around for an hour and a half. When we got on the boat, the seating arrangement was quite strange. There were two long benches on either side, a few seats in the middle, and four at the back. There were already people sitting in the middle when we boarded, I'm assuming they got priority boarding? As we got straight on the boat when called. I get motion sickness, so I prefer to face forward, therefore had no choice but to take one of the seats at the back by 3 large engines. For an hour and half journey there and the same back, this was very loud, and gave me Tinnitus for 48 hours after. The positives: Snorkelling spots were stunning and some of the best I've ever experienced.

Never again!!! - Despite bad weather, the tour was started. We were told that the tour could not be run as planned. Blue-eyed, it went on the boat. After only a few minutes it became clear that there were very high waves that made the boat rock violently. After 15 minutes the first... despite repeated requests to turn back and by now tens of vomiting passengers, this wish was not fulfilled... the boat hit the waves violently and as a result the crossing took more than two hours. There were no other stops either, only island number 4. Irresponsible event without regard to participants. Hands off, this is all about the money!
