- Banff National Park - During this tour, the Radventures guide will decide the optimal times to visit each location, considering weather conditions, bus tour schedules, and other local insights to ensure guests have the most genuine experience.
Exploring the depths of Banff National Park is a remarkable adventure in any season! However, weather can change rapidly, and winter temperatures often remain below freezing. It’s important to dress in layers and prepare for cold conditions, including wearing warm, waterproof footwear.
- Lake Louise - Put on your ice skates and snowshoes at the renowned Lake Louise, gliding across the ice and snow while taking in the stunning surroundings.
With two hours available, guests can ice skate on the lake, explore lakeside trails, admire ice sculptures, and visit the hotel and shops. There’s an activity for everyone, regardless of their activity level!
Upon arrival, the guide will highlight key landmarks and provide necessary information for exploring the lake independently, as well as demonstrate the use of snowshoes and ice skates (additional cost, contact Radventures before booking).
Once everyone is engaged in their Lake Louise activities, the guide will stay with the tour van, allowing guests to come and go for gear pick-up/drop-off and to access a warm place to relax and store belongings.
- Lake Louise - Around noon to 1 pm, there will be a brief lunch stop at Samson Mall in Lake Louise Village.
Guests can choose to purchase lunch at a local cafe or bakery, or pre-order a bagged lunch from Bare Bistro (additional cost, contact Radventures before booking). Bringing your own lunch is also an option.
Please note: This is a remote area of the Rockies, and lunch options may be limited for those with dietary restrictions. For more details, contact Radventures before booking.
- Johnston Canyon - Discover the stunning frozen landscape of Banff National Park at Johnston Canyon!
Upon arrival, the guide will provide crampons/ice-cleats and hiking poles, sharing fascinating stories and facts as you explore the gentle trail to the Lower Falls (approximately 30 minutes/1.2 km/0.75 miles/50 m elevation gain one way).
At the Lower Falls, guests can choose to return to the warm tour van or continue to the Upper Falls (an additional 30 minutes/1.3 km/0.8 miles/70 m elevation gain) to witness the impressive frozen waterfalls and watch ice climbers scale the canyon walls.
The round trip from the trailhead to the Upper Falls is 2 hours/5.0 km/3.1 miles/120 m elevation gain, suitable for those with moderate fitness levels.
Physical activity is encouraged but not required, and guests may opt to relax instead of hike.
