- Lesung Bali Cooking Class - Begin your adventure with a pickup from your accommodation, followed by a visit to a traditional market to take advantage of the cooler morning temperatures for purchasing all your cooking essentials.
At the traditional market, you’ll have a wonderful opportunity to witness authentic Balinese culture and lifestyle. This visit offers insight into how Balinese people prepare for cooking.
Next, your guide will introduce you to a variety of well-grown herbs and spices in our organic garden, adding an extra layer of experience before you start your lesson in the Balinese Kitchen.
You’ll learn to prepare food using traditional utensils and techniques. The preparation of pastes and sauces is one of the most fascinating and crucial aspects of Balinese cooking, involving two methods of spice preparation: chopping on a wooden block and grinding in a stone mortar, before being cooked in various Balinese dishes. All prep work and cooking are hands-on activities, performed entirely by you.
After the class, you’ll enjoy a lunch featuring the dishes you’ve prepared yourself. Once you’ve finished your meal, you’ll be dropped off at your original pickup point, marking the end of this experience.

This culinary workshop is designed for those intrigued by genuine Balinese cuisine and culture. You will acquire the skills to concoct popular regional delights in a warm and informal setting. Small groups (ranging from 4-12 individuals) will learn in a conventional, open-air kitchen, guided by accredited Balinese chefs, promising an exceptionally personal and valuable encounter. The workshop commences with a trip to a local traditional market to purchase fresh produce. Throughout this experience, you’ll immerse yourself in authentic Balinese culture, encountering its wealth of customs and the distinctive tastes and scents. Following the preparation of a full 5-course set lunch, you will savor the fruits of your labor post-workshop.
