Cultural Tour of North East India - It is the excellent trip to North East India. Although it is very disappointed that I cannot get the permit to Sikkim. However, the Folk Tales reorganised the itinerary. We visit the Kaziranga National Park which is much much better than Royal Chitwan national Park. We can see the wild rhino, deer, buffolo in short distance. The living root bridges had their distinguishing feature and wisdom of tribes. The visit of Kongthong village is very fantastic and relax. The local guide and people are very friendly. The impression of North East India is peaceful, quite and clean. It is worth to have vacation in North East India. Thank you Gaurav to arrange this amazing trip. I would join the Folk Tales again to visit India soon.

Authentic, Experiential, Offbeat - This trip introduced me to the offbeat Sikkim where "tourists" generally don't venture. I got to experience the untouched and pristine part of Sikkim. It was a small group of 10-12 pax of diverse age ranges. We stayed in a homestay, ate locally grown organic food, and got the chance to experience the culture of the different tribes. Gaurav had made the arrangements very mindfully and was thoughtful of the needs of the people. The activities included trekking, local monasteries and sightseeing with storytelling, cultural nights, I came back with wonderful memories and experience that I'll cherish for the rest of my life. If you are travelling to India and looking to experience the "authentic" India, I highly recommend The Folk Tales, Gaurav is passionate about travelling and responsible tourism.

Sikkim was our highlight in India - We chose this tour because The Folk Tales won National-level awards for community-based tourism- we wanted to stay with local people and for our money to go directly into their communities. We particularly liked learning from the two families about their different ethnic backgrounds, and understanding what life is like in current day Sikkim. The day trips to temples and through the stunning mountain landscape did not disappoint! We will be back in another year to do one of the other tours offered by this small but excellent tour company.

Relaxing trip to Sikkim - I always wanted to visit the North East, but I wanted to do it like a local. Gaurav organized just the apt tour for us where we stayed in beautiful homestays and did activities such as cooking, herbal bath and local dance. Apart from that, we did the sightseeing of local places, village walks and got to know many local stories. Our guide was from the village itself, and being a female I felt absolutely safe on this tour. Thank you for organizing this tour so effortlessly, and thank you for giving me this experience.

Beautiful Sikkim - Northeast has so much to offer from it’s culture to beautiful nature. And Folk Tales makes sure you experience all that and more. I really enjoyed the rural homestays where we got to experience the local food, local lifestyle and the serenity of the nature in villages. It was nicely curated and and aptly planned.
