Beautiful James Harriet Countryside - This was my second time taking this tour because I loved it so much the first time I came in December 2021. John was an excellent tour guide - very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area. I don’t think there’s any place in the world as beautiful as the Yorkshire Dales, and anyone who has enjoyed the James Harriet books or either of the shows will love this tour!

Great time in the Yorkshire Dales - Barry was an excellent tour guide. He arrived at the pickup location on time and clearly explained how our day would go. Barry is very knowledgable about the region and gave us a lot of good information not only about stops on the tour, but about Yorkshire and the UK in general. He’s witty and kept us entertained but in a very genuine conversational way. Barry gave us good ideas on what to do at the stops. We would definitely recommend this tour and especially with Barry.

Excellent way to see best parts of the dales - This was an all day tour from York with Barry as our driver and guide. It did not disappoint. It helped that the weather was sunny and dry. We visited many villages in the Yorkshire Dales with frequent stops, including lunch at Hawes. We saw lots of places connected to All Creatures Great and Small TV show. The scenery was stunning. Barry was friendly and helpful. He provided plenty of information on the sights we were seeing and was happy to answer questions. He had a vast knowledge of the area. There were plenty of opportunities for photos at stops along the way.

A fantastic tour - Fantastic tour, our guide Barry is very experienced, humorous and informative, and an expert in trees which is like a bonus for this tour. We haven’t watched any episode of the TV series of All Creatures Great and Small, but now I am thinking about getting the book. British countrysides are full of rolling green hills, and traditional villages, a must see if you have some spare days of your trip in the UK. Highly recommended for anyone.

Beautiful Scenery - Our guide was the best - John S. Very informative and knowledgeable. We stopped in Grassington which is transformed into the town of Darrowby for the PBS “All Creatures Great and Small”. John pointed out the building that is transformed into Siegfried and James’ surgery. The “Drovers Inn” is just across the street. You can easily see your favorite character on the market square. As we drove through the Dales, we stopped and viewed the farm used for Helen’s family plus the church where James and Helen were married. We drove along the narrow roads (lanes) and had to back up on occasion to pass by oncoming cars. For lunch, John called ahead to the Buckden Inn and our group of ten had a table reserved. Good pub food. This was a marvelous tour made special by our guide, John S.

Waving to James Herriot (actor) - Had a great visit to the Dales with Ben A! It included a stop off for pictures outside the house they use as Helen’s Dad’s place in the new series and they happened to be filming that day. That was an unexpected and delightful treat! Bolton Castle was also lovely - much more to see than I expected. An all-around good time.

Excellent tour! - This was an excellent tour! The guide was so knowledgeable and friendly that we learned a lot about the history of the area and also many interesting facts. It was perfect weather as well. We were able to stay the right amount of time in each place we stopped. I would highly recommend this company. In fact, we're doing another tour today!

Make sure what tour you are on before going. - Pros-The trip itself was lovely. The views were amazing and our guide (Ben?) was very knowledgeable. Cons-However, I thought we would have more time and a tour of the Wensleydale Cheese factory. We had to choose between eating lunch at the cheese factory or in the town. So our time there was limited. Also, there was a lot of emphasis on All Creatures Great and Small. It was fine to point out but I began to think I was on the wrong tour. Maybe Viator has it wrong in it's description because on Mountain Goats website there are two different tours that go to similar locations and one is for All Creatures Great and Small tour and another is just of Yorkshire Dales. Either way, check out Mountain Goats direct website to make sure which tour you would prefer or confirm with Viator which tour you are getting.
