Amazing experience with knowledgeable tour guide! - This was an excellent day-long tour of the area around Huamanga (Ayacucho)! The tour left promptly on time from the main plaza which most of us were staying near. Our tour guide Jorge was incredibly knowledgeable about the sites we were going to visit and began to give us some historical context of the city as the bus pulled out into the mountains. The Wari site (and flora) was incredible to see and without a tour guide, would be very difficult to fully appreciate as there is no signage so it's critical to go with an experienced tour guide! Afterward, we visited a newer local bee museum that offered some treats which was an unexpected but very pleasant surprise, and also offered some incredible views of the area! At this point, we headed to the pampa de Ayacucho (or Quinua as it's known) which was a short car ride away. Once again, without a knowledgeable tour guide, one could easily visit the area without fully appreciating the historical value for Peru and Latin America. After taking a short lunch break at a local restaurant that showcased local dishes, we went to our final stop to check out a local artisan's studio and even took home a small souvenir that we made ourselves. Overall I was very impressed with the expertise of our tour guide, the comfort and timeliness of the tour and if i had more time in the city would've loved to check out some of the other tours offered by Huancaraylla Tours!
