June update: The sunset is directly aligned with the river at this time of the year!

Booking this tour for the sunset and bats puts you along side Austin’s #1 experience “kayaking w/ the bats” only you’re on a board! Its the same trip just a different vessel.

Don’t let the word “Paddleboard” fool you. This is 15 feet long and 4.5 feet wide. It is ultra stable. You will not get wet unless you choose to go for a swim. You can sit down, stand up, or even lay down. It’s impossible to fall into the water on accident.

The mega paddle boards make for an excellent family or group option cause you get to stay together and share the experience.

As a bonus, as soon as you book, my auto-reply welcome message has my personal guidebook to Austin that can help you plan the rest of your Austin vacation!

Additional Information

The giant paddleboard offers various advantages over a kayak. It allows you to remain with your friends or family on a single board, enjoying a communal experience. It offers you the option to stay fully dry, which eliminates the need for a trip back to your accommodation before and after. This undoubtedly results in significant time and money savings. The flexibility to stand, sit, or lie down contributes to a much more enjoyable journey. The boards, with no weight restrictions and supreme stability, often confound the fears linked with the term ‘paddle board’. Dispel any excuse you might have for not trying one, and you’ll find the opposite to be truer. For instance, the belief ‘I don’t want to get wet.’ - contrary to this, you’ll likely get wet on a kayak, but the giant paddle board will keep you dry. This is accurate in almost every given circumstance.

Great memories! - We did not know what to expect but knew we wanted an outdoor family activity. We had to work together to move our boat down the river and felt so accomplished when we really got it moving. The communication it required from my three teenagers filled my heart! The guides were really knowledgeable about the bats and made the experience so worth it. My son is yapping about taking a date next time! Thank you boats and bats for a great new memory!

Amazing experience! - Arguably one of my family’s coolest experiences! My experience with Boats and Bats in Austin was exceptional! Aaron and his crew were second to none—thoughtful, kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly accommodating. The entire tour was well-organized and truly enjoyable. My kids LOVED it! The highlights of the trip were undoubtedly the stunning sunset, the breathtaking skyline, particularly after the sun went down, and, of course, the famous bats. Watching the bats emerge at dusk was a spectacular sight, and Aaron's insightful commentary added so much to the experience. If you're looking for a memorable way to explore Austin, I highly recommend Boats and Bats. It's an unforgettable experience that combines nature, history, and the beauty of the city in a unique and delightful way. Five stars!

Well organized and great pictures! - Aaron was very organized and provided great information on the meetup site, kayaking tips, general river and water flows between the dams, and bat colony information. Definitely say yes to a beach chair and a tow - made the trip perfect!! 👸🏻🦇🌜 Also they thoughtfully took pictures of the groups for free!! Thank you!

Great experience! - Nice kayak to the bridge. Very informative about the bats. Beautiful skyline. It was a really fun experience. I would recommend, because if you want to stand at the bridge or places around it, you’re not going to get a good view. The guide will shine a red light so you can see the bats coming out. I’ve never kayaked before, it was surprisingly not bad. I didn’t even think about getting wet, so bring a change of clothes or dress appropriately.

Highly recommend! - The guides were helpful, knowledgeable, and fun. Lady Bird lake is beautiful and paddling at night with a view of downtown created a beautiful fun memory with my daughter.

Awesome time - This was an amazing experience! It was really fun to watch the bats from the water and the guide did a great job of telling us about the bats and getting us into a great spot to watch the bats leave their roost. We watched the bats the following night from the road (on the bridge) and it was a much more enjoyable experience watching it from the water. Our guide told us that the bats were there February through December.
