Worth every penny - The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly! It was a very pleasant bus ride and walk, and they even picked me up from my hotel which was fantastic! Would absolutely recommend, but don’t get too distracted by the black sand, otherwise you’ll get wet like I did 🤣

A pleasant surprise - What a great day trip to see the Waitekere Ranges. It was nice to see a whole lot of native flora in the preserved area. The drive up was lovely and we stopped for a quick break to pick up a snack for lunch and it was nice to try the steak and cheese pie. Piping hot. We arrived at the visitor center to learn about the area and we could look around inside before we went for a nice walk on one of the easier trails where Mairi pointed out all the species native to New Zealand. Then we headed to Piha Beach and we were luck to have not got rained on here too. After strolling the black sand beach and getting copious amount of pictures, we had tea and some yummy anzac biscuits before heading back to the city. It was nice to hear that some of our money goes towards the conservation. Very pleased with that.
