• Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park - Situated at Auckland’s Bastion Point, this memorial honors Michael Joseph Savage, New Zealand’s first Labour prime minister from 1935 to 1940, and overlooks the Waitematā Harbour. Similar to the Massey Memorial in Wellington, it is constructed on the site of a former gun emplacement from the ‘Russian Scare’ of the 1880s.

• Muriwai Gannet Colony - Muriwai’s gannet colony is a one-hour drive from the center of Auckland. A short walking track from the car park leads to a viewing platform directly above the main colony area. The colony extends to two vertical-sided islands out at sea, with about 1,200 pairs of gannets nesting here from August to March each year.
• Muriwai Beach - Take a stroll on Muriwai Beach, a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, known for its rugged coastal beauty, bird colony, and excellent surf conditions.
