- Bastion Point - Bastion Point offers stunning views over the Hauraki Gulf and Waitematā Harbour, as well as back to central Auckland. The Māori name for this area is Takaparawhā. This picturesque area includes the Savage Memorial, honoring Michael Joseph Savage, one of New Zealand’s most cherished prime ministers.
- Achilles Point - Originally named Te Pane o Horoiwi (the head of Horoiwi) due to its Maori history, Achilles Point was renamed by the council in 1940 to honor the New Zealand-crewed ship HMS Achilles. The HMS Achilles defeated the German cruiser Graf Spee in the 1939 Battle of the River Plate, the first major naval battle of World War II. Achilles Point offers spectacular views of the Waitemata Harbour and the Gulf Islands. While not a venue for activities, the views are truly breathtaking.
