CORINTH CANAL-XYLOKASTRO-KALAVRITA
Corinth Canal - Our first stop is at the impressive Corinth canal as your driver describes its many interesting ill-fated and varied History’s from Ancient times to the present. The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. From high up, you can enjoy the best view of Corinth’s isthmus and admire the steep limestone walls while you observe the vessels below you navigate their way through the canal
Xylokastro - It is one of the most cosmopolitan towns (6,000 inhabitants) on the northern coast of the Peloponnese, in the county of Corinthos, a short distance from Athens, 120 km or 1 h and 15′ approximatelly by car (1h and 30′ from Athens international airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” ). From the beginning of the last century it is kept high on the travelling preferences of Greek and foreign tourists. Today it is one of the most important tourist destinations in the Peloponnese.
Xylokastro beach - Xylokastro Beaches
There are two large ‘Blue Flags’ beaches (Aristonafton in the west and Pefkia in the east) which are organized with sun-beds and umbrellas. There are also a lot of other options of beautiful beaches among the surrounding hills.
Odontotos Rack Railway - About 120 years ago, the Diakopto-Kalavryta cogwheel railway, starting from the coastal town of Diakopto and parallel to the river’s tracks, built bridges, drilled tunnels, added “teeth” and managed to climb all the way to Kalavryta.
Spileo Limnon - The Cave of the Lakes is located at an altitude of 800m. and 2 km north of the village of Kastria, next to the Kalavryta - Kleitoria provincial road. The connection of the cave with the myth of the Proitides and Melampos is considered successful, since there are no other large caves in the area and the description of Pausanias is rather favorable for a similar identification.
Kalavrita - Kalavryta town welcomes you as one of the hot winter destinations in the Peloponnese. This beautiful town lies at the foot of Mt. Chelmos and it is a must-visit buzzing place during the cold months of the year on account of its ski centre.
In this dreamlike setting you will see stone-built houses, small squares, charming alleys, picturesque cafés and tavernas right next to shady plane trees: it’s a destination ideal for those aiming to combine their love for nature with their romantic mood.
Patra-Naypaktos
Patras - Welcome to Patras, a bustling student city, a place where entertainment, history and culture mingle together to create a destination filled with wonderful discoveries. Gifted by nature, Patras is nowadays a commercial hub and Greece’s third most significant city.

Nafpaktos - It is one of the few cities in Greece that survived 30 centuries. through a turbulent history, which is reflected in its scattered monuments. Built at the foot of Pindos, it enjoys the embrace of its Castle, whose walls descend to the Gulf of Corinth. A picturesque city with warm neighborhoods and hospitable residents. A historical place that welcomes visitors in winter and summer in its mountainous areas with dense forests and traditional villages and on its beaches with crystal clear waters.
Messologi-Lefkada
Messonghi - Built on a peninsula between the homonymous lagoon and that of Kleisova, at the mouth of the Evinos and Acheloos rivers, Messolonghi, with approximately 13,000 inhabitants, is the capital of the prefecture.
The most prevalent version states that the name of the city comes from the combination of the Italian words mezzo and langhi (Mezzolanghi), meaning “middle of lakes” or messo langhi (Mesolanghi), meaning “place in the middle of lakes”.
Lefkada - Lefkada is surrounded by a total of 24 islets - Aristotle Onassis’ Skorpios being one of them. It connects to the opposite coast of Central Greece via a floating swing bridge (length: 50 m). The bridge offers easy access to Lefkada to visitors from all over Greece. On Lefkada you will find noteworthy sights, churches and monasteries, picturesque villages, lush vegetation, idyllic coves of transparent, turquoise waters, busy and secluded beaches of stunning beauty, a significant cultural heritage and hospitable locals.
Lefkada Beaches
Lefkada Town - Lefkada is the island’s capital and port town. The town planning is a very particular one and resembles a “fish backbone”. There are picturesque alleys, small squares, traditional houses, elaborate belfries and paved pedestrian zones that give this town its character. The city is surrounded by a canal and a lagoon, while, farther north, lies Gyra, a thin stretch of a sandy beach forming a circle, dotted with windmills and scant vegetation.
Porto Katsiki - Porto Katsiki beach in Lefkada is perhaps the main attraction of Lefkada beach and one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece and the Mediterranean! Located on the southwestern coast of Lefkada, the natural beauty of Porto Katsiki is unparalleled, as its impressive white cliffs (a staple of Lefkada beaches) serve as a magnificent backdrop to this beautiful coast!
