Non-guided tour of Athens - Our driver was great. He was friendly and answered all of our questions. He made sure we knew up front that he was not a tour guide and would not be guiding us at any of our stops. He did give us information at each stop and a time to meet back up with him. Our stop at the Acropolis had to be altered due to the vast amount of people that were already in line. We got there around 9:00 and the line was already 2-3 hours long. As more and more buses dropped off people, the line just got longer and longer. I'm glad I hadn't purchased tickets ahead of time. We ended up taking photos from a distance and visited the museum instead. This was a really neat experience as we got to see some ruins that had been excavated not too long ago. The museum was built over the site to help protect it. Mount Lycabettus was an exhausting hike up the mountain, but the views once on top were amazing. The cold mochaccino was delicious. We didn't stop in Plaka, which I wish we would have had time to do, but we did drive through it. It looked like a neat place to spend some time. We felt safe and had a great day exploring the city. If you don't need an actual guide, I highly recommend booking this tour.
