- Corinth Canal - Depart from our terminal for one day tour via the coastal National highway for the Corinth canal (short stop).
- Archaeological Site Mycenae - After the Corinth Canal, you enter the region of Argolis, land of Homer’s Golden Mycenae, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Dating back to the second century B.C., Mycenae was one of the major centers of Greek civilization and a military stronghold which dominated much of southern Greece . Visit the archaeological site, home to the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon. You will see the Cyclopean Walls, the Lion’s Gate, the Royal Tombs, including Agamemnon Clytemnestra’s, and the Treasury of Atreus, a magnificent 14th-century B.C. structure. In Mycenae you will have the chance for an optional stop in a pottery factory.
- Fortress of Palamidi - Then, proceed to Nauplion the first capital of modern Greece with its Venetian fortress of PALAMIDI and the fortified islet of BOURTZI. It was named after Nafplios, son of Poseidon, and it is home of Palamidis, the local hero of the Trojan war and supposedly the inventor of weights and measures, lighthouses, the first Greek alphabet and the father of the Sophists. After a walking tour of the city, you will have lunch in a restaurant beside the sea with amazing views of Bourtzi islet in the middle of the Port. Those who have selected the option without lunch, will have the time to explore further the city or relax having a nice coffee.
- The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus - Continue on to Epidaurus and visit the ancient theatre. The UNESCO’S world heritage listed monument is reputed to be the birthplace of Apollo’s son Asklepios, the healer and was the most celebrated healing center of the classical world. Epidaurus is probably most famous for its theatre, one of the best preserved classical Greek buildings and still used today due to its amazing acoustics. The Argolis (Mycenae - Epidaurus) day tour returns to Athens in the late afternoon.

Enjoyable Trip to Mycenae and Epidaurus - The hotel pick up and drop off really helped with our overall logistics. The bus, the bus driver, and the guide were all excellent. The locations we visited were very good. After 1 hour of driving we stopped at Corinth Canal, built in 19th century to connect the Aegean with the Adriatic sea. About 30 minutes later we reached Mycenae where we visited the ancient theatre of Epidaurus and the Sanctuary of Asclepiusan, essentially the hospital of that time. Since we had visited Pergamum's (in Turkey) Asclepion two weeks prior, this was very interesting to us. We had lunch and free time in Nafplio, a lovely, walkable location. We packed a lunch and enjoyed it on a seaside park bench, followed a lovely walk, then Italian gelato. So perfect. Next we visited the Tomb of Agamemnon, was very enjoyable. The bus ride back to Athens was pleasant, the traffic was not too bad (it's Athens...) and overall a very good day.

Mycenae, Epidaurus, and Nafplio - This was an amazing tour to Mycenae, Epidaurus, and Nafplio. The bus was very comfortable. Our guide (Irene) was simply amazing with her knowledge. I was really looking forward to Mycenae, which were so impressive, but I was really surprised with Epidaurus and how much there was there to see and what that site represented. And Nafplio was a fun stop and very beautiful.

Very interesting - The theatre of Epidaurus was very impressive.
But the ruins of Mycenae were the most interesting and Nikos provided a lot of information about the site. The restaurant choice in Napfloi was very good.

Too much for one day. Not enough time at Epidaurus - We did this tour because my son had recommended Epidaurus and told us it was a place that should not be missed. I need to start out by saying that this particular day there was a strike in Athens and we did not have a real tour guide. The tour operator had notified us ahead of time and we were fully aware of this, but chose to go on the tour anyway. Consequently, we really didn’t get much information at all about the places we were visiting. The bus driver was great and we felt very safe. The person leading the tour was not a regular tour operator and was merely a ticket taker. We were picked up in one location, but we were dropped off at a different location at the end of the day. We did not know ahead of time so be prepared for this. It wasn’t a problem however there were no taxis running due to the strike and thankfully we didn’t have to walk very far. Though this tour was good because we saw a bunch of different things, there was just too much packed in one day. We didn’t get any tour in Nafplio… it was only a stop for lunch. We really didn’t have enough time to explore Epidaurus which was the last stop and found like we were running through what should have been the highlight. We even couldn’t complete the whole area because we ran out of time and had to be back for the bus. I don’t think this would’ve been different if it was a normal normal day. Because our tour was on a strike day, I would look at some of the other reviews before you pick this tour.

Tour cancelled by operator the night before after 8:00pm - Wish I was able to actually go on the Sunday September 8, 2024 tour. My credit card was charged for the tour on Friday morning. The tour operator sent me a message that the pick up location has been changed to a near by hotel. On Saturday after 8:00pm at night (less than 11 hours before pickup time on Sunday morning), the tour operator sent me a message that the tour would not take place with no explanation. Very disappointed. It would have been nice to have been notified during the day so we could have made other arrangements. Very unprofessional to cancel a tour that late the night before
