- Pnyx - Step into the shoes of a classical Athenian citizen at the archaeological site of Pnyx Hill, the historic venue of the Athenian Public Assembly, offering a stunning view of the Acropolis and the Parthenon.
Begin with an engaging introduction to the theme, presented by your guide using the Socratic method, fostering a shared dialogue between instructor and participants.
Embark on a 300-meter uphill walk, leading to the ancient vema—the stone platform where orators once addressed the citizens of Athens. Upon reaching the destination, settle in the nearest shaded spot to engage in an interactive role-play: a reenactment of an ancient Assembly meeting. Debate a case scenario, express your opinions, cast your vote, and even utilize a replica of an ancient water-timer, just as in the classical era.
Then, delve into the dramatic tradition of ostracism. Identify the “dangerous citizen,” inscribe their name on your ostracon, and symbolically exile them from the city. Each participant will carve and keep their ostracon as a unique keepsake.
To wrap up the experience, enjoy a brief tour of the hill, followed by the Exploration Game—a fun team challenge (This game is available for groups of 4 or more.)
