Sample menu:
Sweet & Savory pies that are unforgettable (e.g., Cheese Pie, Spinach Pie)
Koulouri (toasted sesame bread ring) - Greece’s favorite on-the-go breakfast. This round bread is rich in carbohydrates and proteins.
Organic olive oil tasting.
A traditionally brewed Greek coffee.
- Platia Agias Irinis - This lively and picturesque square was once the city’s flower market. Now, only a few flower vendors remain, replaced by café bars and eateries, making it one of the trendiest spots in town. Easily accessible from anywhere, it is self-contained and tranquil, free from disruptive traffic, and bustling with life throughout the day.
Enjoy a special Cretan delicacy, a unique pie called Sfakiani, thin like a crepe with soft cheese inside and honey on top!
Sample Menu:
Rakomelo: A renowned alcoholic drink made by mixing Raki (a grape-flavored brandy) with honey and warm spices like cardamom, cinnamon, and local herbs.
- Aiolou - Sample Menu: The ultimate Greek street food dessert: Loukoumades, also known as “honey puffs,” at the best spot for 100 years.
Aiolou street is a historic central paved road connecting Omonia square with Ermou street. Named after the ancient Greek god of the winds, Aeolus, it was constructed in 1833 and is one of the oldest streets in Athens.
- Kotzia Square - Sample menu: Greek Honey tasting. Three distinct and delicious varieties.
Kotzia Square is surrounded by charming neoclassical buildings, including the old town hall. There is also a small archaeological site where you can see the city’s water supply system dating back 2000 years, recently uncovered during excavations for the underground car park.
- Central Market - Visit the lively open fish and meat market of the city!
Sample Menu:
Souvlaki, our national street food. There are hundreds of Souvlaki places, but only a few truly exceptional ones. We will take you to one of the most delicious, authentic, and acclaimed!
- Evripidou - Sample menu: PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) Greek cheeses, unique meats like pastourma, and Tsipouro.
The heart of Athens’ spice and herb stores.
Small, family-run businesses have been the backbone of this street for decades, making it the first stop for any Athenian food enthusiast.
PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) Greek cheeses and unique meats.
Tsipouro, a popular grape-distilled spirit, is served pure or scented with anise. It is offered as a welcome to guests, an accompaniment to meze, or as the fuel for laughter among old friends in cafes across Greece.
- Platia Theatrou - Sample menu: Several varieties of delectable Greek olives.
- Psyri - Psyri or Psiri is central, trendy, and unconventional! It is a vibrant neoclassical neighborhood known for its artisans, specialty stores, restaurants, bars, tavernas (with or without live music), theaters, art and antique shops, and a few hotels.
- Monastiraki - Nestled in the shadow of the Acropolis, the Monastiraki neighborhood is a fusion of architectural styles, eras, and cultures, adjacent to the districts of Psyri, Plaka, and Thisio.
Monastiraki Square is one of the most captivating squares in Athens, home to restaurants, cafes, shops, the famous flea market, and a wealth of ancient history.
In the square, admire the sunken Church of Pantanassa, the only remaining part of the monastery (or rather nunnery) that existed on the site during the Byzantine period, giving the area its name (Monastiraki means little monastery). However, for many, Monastiraki is synonymous with antiques and old treasures, thanks to the flea markets and antique shops that populate the area towards Abyssinia Square.
