• Acropolis - MEETING THE GUIDE. The guide will be ready to meet at Makrygianni Street, near the Acropolis Metro stop, conveniently located close to the Acropolis Main Entrance.

This meeting point offers a perfect vantage point to admire the ancient Mycenaean wall surrounding the Acropolis. The guide will provide an introduction to the Acropolis’s history, its significance in ancient Greek life, and an overview of the temples and remarkable monuments you will explore.

• Theater of Dionysus - In a well-preserved state, one of the initial stops is the Ancient THEATER OF DIONYSUS. Constructed in the 4th and 5th centuries BC within a natural amphitheater on the Acropolis slopes, it had an impressive capacity of 25,000 and is considered the world’s oldest. It’s fascinating to think that many renowned Ancient Greek plays premiered here!
• Propylaea - Ascend towards the grand gateway (Propylaia) and entrance to the Acropolis.

As the Acropolis Temples come into view, the Ancient Greeks would have been welcomed by a massive decorated Bronze Statue of the Goddess Athena. According to legend, the tip of her raised spear was visible to incoming ships in the sunlight.

• Temple of Athena Nike - Constructed around 420 BC, this early Classical Ionic Temple was dedicated to the Goddess Athena and is largely restored, prominently overlooking the City.
• Parthenon - Representing the pinnacle of the ‘Golden Age’ of Classical Greece, this temple is an unparalleled masterpiece of Art, Architecture, and Engineering, as well as the heart of Ancient Greek ceremony and worship in Athens. Time is taken at this significant temple to provide an overview of its construction, mythology, and historical importance.
• Erechtheion - The second-largest temple of the Acropolis, the Erechtheion was dedicated to both Zeus and the Goddess Athena. The guide will highlight its fascinating mythology and main features, such as its impressive statues now housed in the Museum.
• Herod Atticus Odeon - Built in AD 161 by Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, this magnificent marble amphitheater remains a functioning theater to this day.
• Acropolis - CONCLUDING THE TOUR. After the tour, the guide will leave you at the Acropolis to enjoy the views and take photos. If a tour option includes a second site, you will continue with the guide to conclude at the second location.
