Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou - Begin the journey with a pick-up from your Marrakech accommodation, traveling through the picturesque High Atlas Mountains. The first destination is the renowned Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This fortified village has been the setting for numerous Hollywood films, such as Game of Thrones, Gladiator, and Lawrence of Arabia. Historically, it was a key fortress on the ancient caravan routes connecting Sub-Saharan Africa to Marrakech.
The journey continues to Ouarzazate, with a photo opportunity at the Taourirt Kasbah. The route then follows the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing through the Skoura Oasis, the Valley of Roses, and delightful Berber villages.
Overnight in Dades Gorges (HB).
: Dades Valley – Tinghir – Todgha Gorges – Arfoud – Sahara Desert:
Todgha Gorge - After breakfast, travel to Tinghir, a historic trading center for ancient caravans. The old city still houses the Jewish quarter and cemetery, reflecting its rich cultural past. The journey proceeds to the stunning Todgha Gorges, where canyon walls soar up to 300 meters. After a brief walk in the gorges, continue to Erfoud, famed for its dates and fossils.
Arrive at the Merzouga Desert before sunset, stopping briefly at a hotel near the sand dunes to switch from car to camels. The camel trek to the desert camp takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, with scenic stops for memorable photos.
Upon reaching the camp, enjoy a hot shower, followed by dinner and a traditional live music performance around the campfire.
Overnight in Tiziri Camp OR Eden Camp (HB).
: Sahara Desert excursion – Merzouga life and traditions
Sahara Desert Morocco - After witnessing the stunning sunrise over the dunes, breakfast is served before embarking on a Sahara Desert exploration. The adventure includes a 4x4 off-road tour, visiting the Merzouga Oasis and meeting a nomadic family in their traditional Berber tent. A visit to the Gnawa village follows, where the community’s rich West African heritage is celebrated through their unique spiritual music.
Lunch is enjoyed at a traditional restaurant before visiting a fascinating fossil site, where ancient marine fossils are visible on volcanic rocks. By day’s end, transfer to a hotel along the dune lines for relaxation by the pool.
In the evening, return to the camp for a magical night under the desert sky.
Overnight in the Merzouga Desert at Tiziri Camp or Eden Camp (HB).
Sahara Desert – Ziz Oases – Midelt – Azrou forest – Ifrane – Fes:
Fes - Return to the hotel by camel or 4x4, as preferred. From the hotel, travel to Erfoud and then proceed to the Ziz Oasis, pausing to admire the panoramic views. Continue to Midelt for lunch.
Next, visit the Azrou Forest to observe the Barbary Macaque monkeys in their natural environment. The journey then leads to Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” with a brief stop before heading to Fes, one of the world’s oldest medieval cities.
Upon arrival, guests are dropped off at their accommodation in Fes.
