It is a scam - It started with an early airport pick for a party of 5 in Ashwan, very routine but unexpectedly awkward with our guide "setting the expectation" for us that he expects tips and it should be separate from other services we receive and arrogantly informing us he is one of the best Egyptologists, lucky we were. After 1 or 2 stops, our supposedly top of the line guide dropped us at the boat terminal for the beginning of our cruise portion with if you have done any ocean cruises, this would be similar to embarking on an old beat down barge with some living spaces. Nonetheless, not impressive on the outside but rather shocking once you get on board, reality sets in and if you somehow didn't know the definition of "photoshop”, you will then. All the photos online on the Viator website are complete opposite of what the actual experience was, it was simply a scam with photos from a different vessel. We were on the Sham Niles vessel. As the sun set, it was time to for bed and due to the antiqueness and age of everything inside our cabin, I proceeded to a visual inspection of things in general and starting with our beds, I immediately noticed a large living and crawling bug on the sheet and after zooming in with my camera, it was clear to me that we had a bed bug problem and immediately walked downstairs to the reception area and had two employees follow me back to my room. One of two was in fact the manager but did not identify himself and delegated the aftermath to others, reinforcement came with two additional employees who all were on their phones and did not know what to do. Eventually, one of them grabbed the bug with his finger tip and threw it in the hallway which is carpet by the way. The management team then told me this is likely in the air and got it from the outside when the window is open. I refuted that idea and googled a picture of a bedbug and compared it side by side with the photo I took. I was so disgusted that if the boat was still docked, I would have walked away from this entire trip. They ended up changing one of two mattress which was older and filthier than the original one and all the sheets because they did not have any extra mattresses, quite unbelievable. In the midst of this chaos, we and our friends both had plumbing issues with water, unsure if it was clean or brown water, leaking up from the tiles in the bathrooms but would have never imagined that this would not be a priority which was now to make sure our belongings were not in contact with the beds, so everything was to be placed on a raised structure in the room.
