Fascinating tour with Mathias! He is very well informed about both history and current events. He makes it fun too! - We spent 3 hours walking around the central historical district with Mathias. Beginning at the Panteón, we were lucky to see the changing of the guard there. We continued around the old city to various museums and parks as well as the government buildings both old and new. All the time Mathias filled us in on the history of the city, the country of Paraguay and answered all of our questions. It was one of the better walking tours we have been on because Mathias is well-informed and also has a wry sense of humor!

Indispensable experience - I have to echo previous reviews left here. It is difficult for an outsider to gain appreciation, and an understanding of Asunción, and broader Paraguay. As a guide, Mathias was knowledgeable, and entertaining, and provided some much needed context, from a local’s perspective, that enhanced my visit to this fascinating area. I would recommend that any stop in Asunción, start with this tour of the city’s old center.
