Day 2: Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - The safari guide will pick you up from the lodge in Arusha for the drive to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2 hours). Tarangire is renowned for its elephant families, savannah, iconic baobab trees, and seasonal swamps, and is sustained by the life-giving Tarangire River. Animals gather at the river, and giraffes, bushbuck, and hartebeest are frequently seen. The park also hosts buffalo, zebra, and wildebeest, which are closely followed by a variety of predators, including lions and leopards. From the open roof of the truck, you will have the chance to take in the landscapes and observe the wildlife.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Ngorongoro Crater - Rise and shine! Today, there is an early departure to the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s seven wonders. Upon reaching the crater rim, the journey continues down a steep track into the 600 m deep caldera, passing through several climatic zones, to observe a variety of animals and birds. The caldera, a collapsed volcano, is home to over 25,000 mammals, including the “Big Five”—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard—as well as hippo, wildebeest, zebra, hyena, and more than 500 bird species. After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch in the crater, the return to Arusha will be early in the evening.
