Materuni coffee is the best :) - Very nice trip! The driver Emmanuel was very flexible and friendly and told us interesting facts about the plants we encountered on our way. The 2 hour hike was very pleasant and the views were breathtaking. The coffee experience was very entertaining! We won't forget it in a long time :)

Great experience with the chagga villages. - The tour was amazing, firstly, you do the 30-45 minute walk around the Chagga villages and in the wilderness to get to the waterfall. You can swim or just stand there, amazed on the incredible nature of that spot. After that, you’ll live an amazing experience on how the local tribes produce coffee, with their chants and energy, and of course, get a taste of it. The experience is super recommended, and you can get a good picture of the Kilimanjaro.

Trip to Meturani Coffee Plantation and Waterfall in Kilimanjaro with Lucas and Asterey:
Another unforgettable day - taking a hike to the waterfall in Kilimanjaro with Lucas and Asterey. This hike to the base of the waterfall was challenging for us considering our ages ~ 70! But it gave us a wonderful sense of accomplishment when we did complete it. Again Lucas (a maasai tribe member) and Asterey (who belonged to the local Chad tribe) were our guides. They introduced us to all the unique local vegetation, birds during the hike. Awesome. After the hike, we visited Asterey's grandma for the most wonderful home-made Tanzanian meal ever. Then, finally, we assisted Asterey and his young, local friends clean the coffee beans, roast the beans, pound it and prepare the best coffee in the world - Arabica coffee that grows in Tanzania.

Cannot not talk about the guys who teach you how to prepare coffe! So funny and kind! Asante Sana

Great Last Day in Tanzania - While our friends lounged by the hotel pool for the last day in Arusha, two of us decided to try this hike to the waterfalls and lesson in coffee making. Teaching us about village customs, native plants, and area history, our guide could not have been more informative or delightful. The walk was up-hill both coming and going, but even at 63 and very out-of-shape I did ok. Definitely suggest wearing hiking boots.
The waterfall is beautiful and well worth the hike. Lunch was excellent and the coffee-making very fun. I now appreciate the value of freshly-roasted coffee: best cup of coffee ever. The young men who directed the coffee making were enthusiastic and really got everyone into the process. They do take the opportunity to present visitors with many souvenirs that are available for purchase. Warning: the only toilet is a shed with the traditional hole-in-the-ground format; however, it was clean and did have toilet paper.
