Fantastic, authentic cooking class - We were greeted very nicely and were allowed to choose in advance what we wanted to prepare (even vegetarian is no problem). Everything was nicely prepared and the food was authentically cooked together. Of course, you could taste your creations at the end and also pack and take the leftovers. It was a very successful afternoon with great food in a nice atmosphere for a good cause!

Excellent Class!! - My friend and I had the best time in this cooking class! We appreciate learning about Lifted Strong and their mission and goals. We also appreciate learning how to make samosas and soup. We had a lot of fun getting to know the ladies. I would absolutely do this class again!

Great project and experience - We did the cooking class and really enjoyed spending our time there, meeting these nice women, learning about the project and get some amazing food out of it. We made the Ungali with vegetables and rice and the cooked banana. Both dishes were amazing and we were even allowed to take some home because we made so much. Highly recommended!

A great insight into Tanzanian cuisine, while doing good - A great project that supports young women and much more. The cooking class was fun and the food was very delicious (chicken stew, ugali, chapati and vegetables (pumpkin leaves)). The preparation of the chapati was a bit tedious and baking in only one frying pan was very “pulling”. Otherwise a great experience with very entertaining women!

A fabulous experience! - Absolutely wonderful experience! Three of our family went to the cooking class. all of the women and girls were lovely and we enjoyed getting to know them a little bit as well as help cook a delicious meal. I would recommend this class to everyone, even those who don't usually cook.

Incredible charity and amazing cooking experience we will never forget! - We loved our NGO Lifted Strong cooking class, booking was simple and easy. Joyce and her team were really accommodating and even moved our booking to the morning so that we were able to squeeze the cooking class in before our flight. You have the opportunity to choose several traditional dishes and we decided on the samosas and soup! As soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome and were introduced to the charity and provided a background on all of their great work that they do for the local community. Then it was time to cook! We headed outside to a traditional cooking area and were shown the traditional methods of making samosas with a variety of fillings from scratch. It was a hands-on and enjoyable experience and it was great to chat to the amazing woman who volunteer for the charity. Finally it was time to enjoy our morning’s work and it was safe to say the samosas and soup were delicious! We sat with the team and discussed more of the fantastic work the charity has been doing in supporting women to be self-sufficient in Tanzania. Truly a worthwhile experience and one we won’t forget! Thank you to the Lifted Strong team, what you do for the community is incredible. You have played a huge part in making our trip to Arusha incredible and we highly recommend this class! Rather watching people cook than actual cooling class - We really consider the NGO's work as they presented it to us worth supporting. Also the idea of raising funds by offering cooking classes is a good idea as it gives interested participants a small insight to what they're supporting which increases transparency. It also has to be emphasized that the prepared food (4 different types of samosas, pea soup, chapati and pumpkin leaves) was really delicious! Unfortunately we thought we'd get more explanations on how to prepare the dishes and that we'd be more included in food preparation. Instead we ended up spending much of the three hours standing around doing nothing. So we'd say if you're interested in spending some relaxed three hours and having a nice dinner afterwards, this activity is definitely for you, but if you are deeply interested in learning how to prepare Tanzanian food, you should probably look for another course.
