Excellent service and best safari company - From our arrival at Arusha Airport to our departure, the entire experience was wonderful. Our guide, Thomas, provided clear daily plans, ensuring plenty of washroom breaks, and enriched our trip with his extensive knowledge of wildlife, birdlife, and botany. Our meals, including the picnics, were delicious and offered plenty of variety. Each journey in the 4x4 safari SUV was an exciting adventure into the unknown, filled with anticipation about what we might see each day. Thomas regularly explained the flora and fauna, communicated with other guides in rapid Swahili (which was really fun to hear), and made sure we had the best viewing opportunities. The three places we stayed at were clean, comfortable, and welcoming, with great staff. The weather cooperated, and the clothing recommended by Mack was perfect. Trainers were sufficient, except in the rain. We were amazed by the number of different animals we observed, counting over 60. The iconic views of the Serengeti plains exceeded our expectations, and the Ngorongoro Crater was equally stunning. We had plenty of shopping opportunities for local crafts, thanks to Thomas pointing them out. The bumpy rides on red or white dirt roads, fondly referred to as the “African massage,” were almost missed when we reached tarmac as it signified the end of our adventure. One of the most spectacular moments was peering into a male lion’s eyes as he approached the 4x4. The entire trip was filled with incredible experiences. Watching the cartoon film Madagascar will be even more enjoyable now. Zebras really do swagger, Pumbas do run with their tails high, lions sleep a lot, cheetahs are simply beautiful, and flamingos are really pink. Witnessing the migration of thousands of hooved animals was breathtaking. Thomas explained how different species have varying senses—some hear better, some see better, and others smell better—making them all alert to predators. We saw hippos snorting and even spotted the elusive solo black rhino. The superb starlings followed us everywhere, living up to their name. The rattling acacia trees with ants, the Maasai with their cattle or goats, and the wonderful bright colors added to the interest of our travels. “Good to go?” “Are you done?” Thank you for the comfortable Land Cruiser we used, which was cleaned and dusted every day. Having binoculars at hand completed the experience. I would highly recommend such a trip. Perfect guides, poor ownership/communication - we were extremely unhappy with how things went with Maki (the owner of the tours) who also planned the tour with us. we clearly stated that we wanted to do the safari with another couple (4 people in total), however ended up in a car with 6 people and did not get informed in advance. It all seemed like a way of „saving money of another driver“. Of course we arranged ourselves but due to the big amount of luggage and due to the fact that the other group was camping and we stayed in lodgias we had to move every night after the safari to their camp site, unload everything and then drive to our lodgias. We lost a lot of hours like this and there was a few lodgias we were not able to propperly see/enjoy because we arrived so late when it was already dark. We openly talked to Maki about the issue and said it was agreed to be 4 people in the car not 6. We kindly asked for a new price calculation. He promised to give us 50$ back each. Of course we never received the money, even asking for it multiple times! Even the day we arrived, the first thing was go to the local bank and get all the money in cash - where you also have to pay a fee of min 70$ just to retrieve the money. This was very frustrating but Maki only cared about the money, took it and left afterwards. Our guide Edward on the other hand was lovely, we would 100% recommend him again and do the tour with him. He had a lot of knowledge and found the best spots to see animals. He was so kind and even organized visits to local markets where he offered food for us and introduced us to locals. It was a lovely experience and he really made our safari trip 10 times better.
