Arusha - Arusha is a vibrant city in Tanzania, East Africa, nestled at the foot of the volcanic Mt. Meru. It serves as a gateway to safari destinations and Africa’s tallest peak, the 5,895m Mt. Kilimanjaro, located about 100 kilometers to the northeast. To the west lies the Serengeti National Park, home to wildlife such as lions, rhinoceros, giraffes, and leopards. As a tourist hub, Arusha is where you will spend the night and begin your journey to the parks according to your itinerary.

Arusha - Tengeru Cultural Tour - Tarangire National Park

Meserani Snake Park - This snake park is a unique gem of Arusha, offering enjoyment and relaxation for both locals and international visitors. Situated 25km west of Arusha on the way to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, the park offers various activities. Take a guided tour to learn about some of the world’s most dangerous snakes, including the Black and Green Mamba, Egyptian Cobra, Puff Adders, and more. Capture a special moment by holding a live snake. Witness the 3m plus crocodiles during feeding time and touch a baby crocodile. Enjoy a personal Maasai guide who will lead you on an impressive tour of the Maasai Cultural Museum. Visit the Free Education Centre, where local Maasai can learn to read and write and further their education in various ways.

Tarangire National Park - Located in Tanzania’s Manyara Region, Tarangire National Park is named after the Tarangire River that flows through it. Covering approximately 2,850 square kilometers (1,100 square miles), the landscape features granitic ridges, river valleys, and swamps. The vegetation includes Acacia woodland, Combretum woodland, seasonally flooded grassland, and baobab trees. The park is renowned for its high density of elephants and baobab trees. Visitors during the dry season from June to November can expect to see large herds of thousands of zebra, wildebeest, and cape buffalo. Other common residents include waterbuck, giraffe, dik-dik, impala, eland, Grant’s gazelle, vervet monkey, banded mongoose, and olive baboon. Predators in Tarangire include lions, leopards, cheetahs, caracals, honey badgers, and African wild dogs.

Tarangire National Park - Lake Manyara National Park

Tarangire National Park - After a delightful breakfast, embark on a morning game drive in Tarangire National Park. This park, located in Tanzania’s Manyara Region, is named after the Tarangire River that traverses it. Spanning approximately 2,850 square kilometers (1,100 square miles), the landscape consists of granitic ridges, river valleys, and swamps. The vegetation is a mix of Acacia woodland, Combretum woodland, seasonally flooded grassland, and baobab trees. The park is famous for its high density of elephants and baobab trees. Mto wa Mbu - After lunch, visit the Mto wa Mbu local market to see the red bananas and other organic produce grown there. If time permits, visit a Maasai village and an orphanage center.

Lake Manyara National Park - Karatu

Lake Manyara National Park - Enjoy breakfast at 7:30 a.m. before heading to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. This protected area in Tanzania’s Arusha and Manyara Regions is situated between Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley. It covers an area of 325 km² (125 sq mi), including about 230 km² (89 sq mi) of lake surface. Over 350 bird species have been observed at the lake.

Karatu - Drive to Karatu for lunch at Gibbs Farm, where you can enjoy the beautiful gardens and fresh, organic food from their gardens. After lunch, participate in a local home visit to learn about the Iraqw people, taking pictures while wearing wedding shirts made of goat skin and carrying local utensils, as well as experiencing the men’s tribal look.

Karatu Town - Lake Eyasi

Lake Eyasi - After breakfast, embark on a journey reminiscent of the “God’s Must Be Crazy” movie. The Hadzabe tribe of Tanzania represents the last true nomads of Africa. Join them for an incredible adventure, accompanying the men as they hunt for their daily sustenance using traditional bows and arrows, or join the women as they forage for fruits and berries.

Lake Eyasi - Karatu

Karatu - Continue with early morning activities with the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. The Datoga are skilled farmers and craftsmen. Visit their habitat and experience their culture firsthand. Prepare for an unforgettable experience.

Karatu Town - Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Depart early from your lodge for a full day in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This protected area and World Heritage Site is located 180 km (110 mi) west of Arusha in Tanzania’s Crater Highlands. Named after the Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera within the area, the conservation area is managed by the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, a branch of the Tanzanian government, and its boundaries align with the Ngorongoro Division of the Arusha Region.

Ngorongoro Crater - The main attraction of the Ngorongoro Conservation Authority is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. Formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago, the crater is 610 meters (2,000 feet) deep, with a floor covering 260 square kilometers (100 square miles). Estimates of the original volcano’s height range from 4,500 to 5,800 meters (14,800 to 19,000 feet). The crater floor is 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) above sea level. In February 2013, the crater was recognized by Seven Natural Wonders as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa in Arusha, Tanzania. The Ngorongoro volcano was active from about 2.45 to 2 million years ago.

Arusha - Enjoy breakfast at your lodge before driving back to Arusha. Have lunch before being transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international flight home.
