Arusha - Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival, an Explore Green Africa Safaris representative will greet you at the airport and transport you to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to unwind and gear up for an unforgettable adventure! Arusha is a bustling hub in northern Tanzania, often visited by travelers embarking on safaris.
Day-2: Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast, your Explore Green Africa Safaris guide will pick you up from your accommodation. This morning, you will journey to Tarangire National Park, approximately a two and a half hour drive on well-maintained roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which serves as the sole water source for wildlife during the dry season. Known for its elephant herds, the park also hosts giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, often accompanied by predators like lions and leopards. Tarangire boasts the highest number of breeding bird species globally! The park is also home to ancient Baobab trees, some over a thousand years old. Lunch will be enjoyed at a picnic site within the park. After your game drive, you will head to your nearby accommodation.
Day-3: Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park - Following breakfast, you will travel to Lake Manyara National Park, a small yet diverse park. The park offers a unique experience with its compact size and the dramatic Great Rift Escarpment towering over its western edge. The park’s namesake, a shallow salt lake, fluctuates with the seasons and hosts thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and over 500 other bird species. In the park’s dense evergreen forest, you might spot baboons and elephants, and keep an eye out for the famous tree-climbing lions. After a full day in the park, you will take a short drive to your accommodation in Karatu.
Day-4: Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, you will ascend into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with an opportunity to view the stunning Ngorongoro Crater. You will then continue through the conservation area to the Serengeti, entering from the south. The Serengeti is renowned for its vast open grasslands, offering excellent wildlife viewing. While it is home to abundant wildlife, it is most famous for the annual Great Migration, where massive herds of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes move in search of fresh grazing. The migration can be observed year-round if you know where to look!
Day-5: Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - This day is dedicated to game drives in the Serengeti. The park is teeming with wildlife, including impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos. Alongside the iconic landscapes, there is a high chance of spotting predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Depending on the Great Migration’s location, you may explore beyond the Central region to witness this natural spectacle. It is truly a transformative experience.
Day-6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, you will travel from Serengeti National Park to the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater, a hidden gem, features a pristine wilderness with sweeping savannahs, acacia woodlands, and shimmering lakes and swamps. Formed by a volcanic explosion and collapse two to three million years ago, the crater is an adventure to explore. On the crater floor, you will encounter large herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. The crater offers the best chance to see the endangered black rhino, occasionally visible in the open grasslands. After a full afternoon in the crater, you will proceed to your luxury accommodation in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day-7: Karatu to Arusha
Karatu - Today, you will be driven to your final destination, whether it be Arusha Town, Arusha Airport, or Kilimanjaro Airport. The schedule will depend on your onward travel plans. We hope you have thoroughly enjoyed your adventure with Explore Green Africa Safaris!
