Mount Meru - We drive from Arusha to Momela-Gate. After a short registration at the Gate our walk will begin with full armed ranger escorting us, simply we can see along the way the wild animals including elephants, zebras, and giraffe, monkeys, antelope, and often elephants along the route. Dinner and overnight night at Miriakamba Hut.

The 4-day trek up Mount Meru is an excellent way to acclimate before climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. With an altitude of 4,568m, Mount Meru is the third highest peak in Africa and sits second in Tanzania. It is located within Arusha National Park, one of Tanzania’s treasured locations. This location offers climbers the unique opportunity to encounter local wildlife.

Mount Meru’s placement in Arusha National Park requires hikers to be accompanied by an armed ranger due to the diverse animal species living on the mountain. Early in their journey up the mountain, hikers may encounter elephants, giraffes, and buffalo. The path upwards follows the volcano’s crater along the northern rim, presenting a jaw-dropping ridge line vista. During the trek, climbers spend their nights in specific huts along the trail. The ascent culminates with hikers reaching the summit at sunrise, treating them to breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru’s crater. Permits for the Meru climb are valid for 12 hours.
