This modern city boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage. Built amphitheatrically, Argostoli offers views of the Koutavos Lagoon and the fir-covered Aenos. Visitors can witness the rare phenomenon at Katavothres, where large volumes of seawater enter the land at Agii Theodori in Lassi and reappear near the village of Karavomylos by Sami.
• Orealios - Located in the “Omala” valley, the Robola Wine Cooperative of Kefalonia offers a delightful experience. Visitors can explore the Museum of Robola, sample exquisite wines, and purchase from a diverse selection.
• Monastery of Agios Gerasimos - Situated in the “Omala” valley, the Holy Monastery of St. Gerasimos attracts thousands of believers twice a year. They come to venerate the relic of Saint Gerasimos and pray. The Saint is credited with numerous miracles, and the surrounding landscape is deeply spiritual.
• Antisamos Beach - Featured in the movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin,” Antisamos Beach showcases the enchanting Kefalonian landscape. The journey to the beach is captivating, passing through lush greenery and towering pine trees. Visitors can pause for photos. The beach, with its white pebbles and sand, is encircled by verdant hills. Its azure waters are crystal clear. The beach is well-equipped with a snack bar, sun loungers, umbrellas, and water sports, consistently earning a blue flag distinction.
• Melissani Cave - The magnificent cave of the nymph Melissani and the ancient Greek God Panas has been a part of Kefalonia since mythical times, first explored in 1951. An earthquake created an opening in the cave’s roof, allowing sunlight to create a stunning display of blue and turquoise waters. Visitors can explore the lake cave by boat and see the small island where ancient ceremonies were held in honor of God Panas and the nymphs.
• Drogarati Cave - Drogarati Cave, one of the largest and most beautiful natural attractions near Sami, is estimated by archaeologists to be over 100 million years old. The cave is about 60 meters deep, with an average temperature of 18°C and high humidity (90%). It is a 15-minute drive from Melissani Lake to Drogarati Cave, and visitors typically spend 30 minutes exploring the site.
• Agia Efimia - The charming village of Agia Efimia is a peaceful town with wide streets and excellent urban planning. Its port attracts numerous yachts from around the world during the summer months.
• Assos - PHOTO STOP Assos is nestled amphitheatrically around a peninsula surrounded by lush landscapes. The village maintains its authentic traditional Ionian architecture, where the rich greenery of tall pines and cypress trees meets the blue waters of the Ionian Sea, creating a picturesque scene crafted by nature.
• Myrtos Beach - PHOTO STOP Myrtos Beach is renowned as the most beautiful beach on the island and one of Europe’s finest. With its snow-white sand, it is a paradise on earth, protected by towering cliffs. The sea offers breathtaking color variations from blue-green to deep blue.
