Memorable experience touring Tierra del Fuego National Park with Catherine from Alma Calma Expeditions. - If you’re looking for an exceptional, personalized experience in Tierra del Fuego National Park, look no further than Catherine from Alma Calma Expeditions. From the moment we met her in Ushuaia, her warm and engaging personality made us feel like we were setting off on an adventure with a close friend rather than just a guide.
Catherine has an incredible ability to read her group and tailor the tour to suit everyone’s interests and energy levels. Whether you’re an avid hiker, a nature enthusiast, or someone who simply wants to take in the breathtaking landscapes at a relaxed pace, she ensures that everyone has a meaningful and enjoyable experience.
Her knowledge of the region is truly impressive. She brought the history and culture of Tierra del Fuego to life, sharing captivating stories about the indigenous Yaghan people, the early explorers, and the impact of the region’s rugged past. As we walked through stunning trails, she pointed out native plants, explained their ecological importance, and helped us spot wildlife we might have otherwise missed—from soaring birds to the antics of red foxes.
Beyond her expertise, what sets Catherine apart is her passion. You can tell she deeply loves this land and delights in sharing its wonders with visitors. She answered every question with enthusiasm and made even the smallest details fascinating. Her energy was contagious, making the experience not just educational but truly magical.
By the end of the tour, we weren’t just in awe of Tierra del Fuego’s natural beauty—we felt connected to it, thanks to Catherine’s storytelling and deep knowledge. If you want more than just a tour but rather an unforgettable journey led by someone who truly cares, Alma Calma Tours and Catherine are the way to go. Highly recommended!

Trip to the end of the Pan American Highway - Arrived in Ushuaia on a Princess Cruise. Our family booked a private tour with Nic (Nicholas Wolaniuk) the owner of Alma Calma. The day was outstanding. We had planned to visit the Tierra del Fuego NP and later have a crab lunch in town. As it turned out, we were having such fun photographing scenery and birds and talking about the history of Ushuaia that we decided to forego the lunch.
Nic is very personable an amazing guide/host. Born and raised in Ushuaia, he knew all the out-of-the-way trails and scenic spots to avoid the big group tours offered by the cruise ship. We learned about all the flora and fauna and how the land and bogs were formed. We even picked and ate a few wild berries and mushrooms. Then drove to the very end of the Pan American Highway which starts in Alaska. The walks were all on groomed trails... not very strenuous. And on one of the walks, Nic packed in snacks and drinks where we learned about (and drank) the famous Argentina Mate hot tea.
We enjoyed our time in Ushuaia with Nic, I highly recommend him as a guide.

Excellent tour guide. - Nicolas collected us from directly outside the ship, arriving 10 minutes before the arranged time. His car was immaculate. We had a fantastic tour, seeing various aspects of the local area and his English was extremely good. He even managed to magic up a viewing of a minke whale at the post office at the end of the world.
He was personable and full of knowledge of the area, the history, culture and clearly passionate about the region. I wholeheartedly recommend him as a tour guide and communication with him was very easy.
