Take National Route 40 northward, and after passing through Dina Huapi, cross the bridge over the Limay River. The journey starts in the northern part of Nahuel Huapi National Park and follows the shoreline of Nahuel Huapi Lake, the largest lake in the area. You’ll arrive at Villa La Angostura, a charming town with a delightful downtown area and a variety of restaurants.

A few kilometers further on National Route 40, you’ll encounter a fork in the road. Heading west (left) on National Route 231 will take you to the Cardenal Samoré crossing and into Chile. Continuing north on Route 40, now known as the Siete Lagos road, you’ll travel along the shores of Espejo, Correntoso, Villarino, and Falkner lakes until you reach the Vullignanco waterfall. From there, you’ll enter Lanín National Park, passing by Escondido, Machónico, and Lácar lakes before finally arriving in San Martín de los Andes.
