The Volcanoes Route, Pampa Cañahuas and Chivay
Colca Canyon - Embark on an adventure by land towards the spectacular Colca Valley. Travel the route of the volcanoes, ascending by the side of the Chachani volcano, and enjoy a formidable view of the Misti and the Picchu volcanoes. The path crosses the vicuña reserve of Pampa Cañahuas, a high Andean habitat where vicuñas live and are protected. The highest point of the journey reaches 4,900 m.a.s.l. at the Patapampa pass, where the active volcano Sabancaya can be appreciated. Descend to the Colca Valley. Arrival and lodging. Colca Canyon, Observation Point of the Cruz del Cóndor and Route to Puno
Chivay - At dawn, head towards the observation point of the Cruz del Cóndor. Observe the majestic flight of the condors, enormous Andean birds that symbolize the Andean countries. The view allows appreciation of the canyon’s vastness, considered one of the world’s deepest canyons. Visit the towns of Maca and Yanque, which still preserve their colonial churches. The Titicaca Sacred Lake and its Islands
Puno - In the morning, board a motorboat to visit the Uros, a community that sought refuge within Lake Titicaca, fleeing various dominating cultures. This community continues to build their islands using ancient techniques and welcomes visitors to share their knowledge. Its people make a living from their visitors. Continue sailing towards the Island of Taquile. The community of this island has preserved its traditions, clothing, and way of life. It is one of the few Quechua communities in a predominantly Aymara region, remaining untouched by modernity and its potential impact on their lives. They will welcome visitors with music and dances.
