The Absolute Highlight of My Trip — Don’t Skip This - This was hands down the best experience of my entire trip to Guatemala. Our tour guide went above and beyond, taking us out of the typical tourist circuit and into her own neighborhood, and a few others, where we got to enjoy truly authentic street cuisine. This wasn’t a curated, watered-down version of local food. This was the real thing.
What surprised me most was how much I learned along the way. Our guide was so knowledgeable and engaging that I walked away with more history and cultural insight than I did from a dedicated walking tour of Antigua. She clearly has a deep love for her city and it showed in every stop we made.
And the food? That’s what I’ll be talking about for months. Every bite was memorable and I’m so glad I said yes to trying everything.
My only regret is not having enough time to book a cooking class with this company — because if this tour is any indication, everything they offer is top tier. You can just tell they genuinely care about the experience they’re creating for visitors.
Do not pass this up. Go hungry, stay curious, and try every single thing they put in front of you.

Delicious food and wonderful tour guide! - We had a wonderful time and ate great food! It was really nice exploring some nearby towns to get a true taste of local cuisine. Our tour guide Nelly was fantastic and made the experience unforgettable. She was super knowledgeable about the food and was even able to tell the group about some Guatemalan history. Highly recommend!

Foodie trip - Truly enjoyed this trip. Alejandro takes u to the real local foods. He tells the story of why and helps out with any questions or recommendations u might have about food.
I recommend doing this before or mid trip because u can taste authentic food and also have recommendations of best foods.

Decent food, friendly guide - While we enjoyed the food, the tour itself was not as great as I expected. I have done food tours in other countries a few times, and the guide usually will spend a good amount of time telling us the history behind each dish, how it's made, etc. We didn't get that this time. The guide was very friendly but spent most of the time telling us stories about his personal life.

Guide could add more value to the tour - First of all, prior to coming to Antigua, we had travelled to other Central and South American countries and in each country, we took part in food and market tours so we had similar expectations for similar price paid.
During this street food tour in Antigua, our guide was lively and put in the effort to learn all our names which was very respectful and attentive of him. He made sure everyone got their food and only left when the last person finished the food. We appreciated this gesture. He made sure to tell us a little about the food before the food was served to us. Details given were the ingredients.
That was an area we felt could be improved. Food is a very important part of any culture. The guide could have used the time when we were eating our food to tell us about the historical and cultural significance of the food he had included as part of this culinary experience, any other significance of the dishes we were sampling, who (e.g: ethnic group) created them, which part of Guatemala the food originated from, why we had to go from one town to another town to try each of the dishes he had selected, etc. For the most part we spent the tour standing around having random chats that had nothing to do with the subject matter of the tour and staring at the stall and cook instead of having a more immersive experience and insights from a local guide.
Honestly, we could have done exactly what we’d experienced on this tour by going to the different towns, ordering the food, asking about the ingredients from the stall owner and eating the food at the stalls ourselves. For USD70+ to be transported to eat 5 types of street food, seems grossly overpriced for the experience. There needs to be more relevant value add particularly given what is available for a similar priced experience in Mexico City, and other parts of Central / South America.

Tour cancelled with no same day alternative - The tour was cancelled 1.5 hrs before the start time due to the guide getting into an accident. I was told they would be better after the weekend but my trip was ending.
