Highlights
  • Iglesia de San Francisco El Grande - A highlight of our “Walk Antigua Like a Local” tour is San Francisco el Grande. This is where Hermano Pedro de San José Betancur, Guatemala’s only saint, is buried. The site is a cultural landmark that draws visitors from around the globe, united by a spirit of hope and inspiration, seeking to enrich their lives through his legacy.
  • Casa Santo Domingo Museums - In the 17th century, the Convent of Santo Domingo was among the largest in the Americas. The 1773 Santa Marta earthquake nearly destroyed it. Today, Casa Santo Domingo has been beautifully restored from its ruins, offering visitors a site where every corner showcases meticulous restoration, blending history with elegance.
  • ChocoMuseo La Antigua - At this delightful museum, we will sample chocolate ranging from pure dark varieties to unique blends infused with local flavors like cardamom, cinnamon, and coffee. Our vision for this stop is to immerse ourselves in the rich cultural heritage, discovering the characteristics of cacao, its global impact, and its evolution over time.
  • The Plaza Central Park - In the 17th century, the Convent of Santo Domingo was among the largest in the Americas. The 1773 Santa Marta earthquake nearly destroyed it. Today, Casa Santo Domingo has been beautifully restored from its ruins, offering visitors a site where every corner showcases meticulous restoration, blending history with elegance.
  • Arco de Santa Catalina - The Santa Catalina Arch, Convent Cloister, and the nave of the Church form the monumental complex of the Old Convent of Santa Catalina Virgen y Mártir. We will take our time to admire the iconic Yellow Arch, a symbol of our city, with a stunning volcano as the backdrop. This picturesque setting is perfect for a memorable photo.
  • Iglesia de La Merced - The Santa Catalina Arch, Convent Cloister, and the nave of the Church form the monumental complex of the Old Convent of Santa Catalina Virgen y Mártir. We will take our time to admire the iconic Yellow Arch, a symbol of our city, with a stunning volcano as the backdrop. This picturesque setting is perfect for a memorable photo.
  • Casa del Jade - Jade has long been recognized as the stone of eternal life, abundance, and hope. For over 5000 years, our culture has admired and utilized its hardness and durability, making it ideal for decoration, defense, or hunting. We are one of only four countries with Jadeite Jade.

No Better than Columbus - Christina and her team were absolutely awesome . No query or request was too much for them . We are dearly sorry took us so long to review Columbus Travels what a fantastic organisation made us feel like family rather than clients . The attention to detail and wonderful suggestions for hotels , tours etc was amazing. We did several internal tours with this team ( and we had options ) never regretted choosing Columbus travel simply perfect

Great tour - learnt a lot about Antigua and Guatemala past and present! - Antigua is a very nice place to walk around independently, but it was all the better to explore it with JJ - great guide, great guy! Learnt a load of things about Antigua past and present that we could never have picked up ourselves. As an aside, we also learnt a lot about Guatemala past and present from JJ, who gave us a load of refreshingly honest (I think) thoughts on a whole range of things, good and less good!

Guatemala Unforgettable - Columbus Guatemala is a great Agency, excellent staff. They put together a great trip for me based on my interests. They were very involved in my everyday day experience and they make sure everything went as planned. Jose Juan was my first contact from the agency when I first arrived to Guatemala, and it was very helpful, very knowledgeable about the history of his country. Unforgettable trip.

Felt Safe as a Solo Female Traveler - I am a female solo traveler and this company has helped me so much with assisting me with my itinerary that accommodated for my 6 day trip in Guatemala. All of the staff members were very responsive to all my questions and it easy to communicate with Catherine, the one who organized my trip. My trip included: guided historical tour with a very informative guide Esteban, who was amazing. I also went to a chocolate factory, volcano hiking trip, cooking with a local family, and village hopping in Lake Atitlan. Every staff member was helpful and friendly which made me safe as a solo traveler. Staff also spoke English so it helped me as I do not speak Spanish. Overall, it was a positive experience for me that I would recommend to others.
