Hike to Base Camp

OX Expeditions - Start the day with a complementary breakfast and coffee at a local restaurant. Then we head to the trail head by minibus. From here we hike up the amazing Acatenango Volcano trail to our base camp with spectacular views of Fuego volcano arriving at around 2 PM

Nice overnight trip, professional and worth the money. - Had a great time on acatenango, large hiking groups are always a bit of an issue but the guides managed everyone well and made sure the whole Group reached its target. As an experienced hiker i thought the Breaks were a bit too long and i would have liked to spend more time on the peak but its a Group activity and i get that its not easy juggling everyones needs. Food was great considering it all needs to be carried up, sleeping bags were ample warm and i really appreciate the fact you could rent Equipment for free. Also the whole vibe with the guides was great, felt like a big family. For the price i think you cant really go wrong.

Epic experience - Awesome experience! Liam is a legend! Great guide and great guy! Romeo also top bloke! I would highly recommend doing a tour with Ox the whole experience was very professional and the views of fuego from base camp are incredible!

Unforgettable Adventure on Acatenango with OX Adventures - Did the Acatenango hike with OX Adventures and it was absolutely class! The weather was a bit mad at times, but it didn’t take away from how unreal the whole thing was. Watching Volcán Fuego erupt right in front of us was unbelievable — proper bucket list stuff. Our guides Axel and Miguelito were legends — sound lads, great craic, and really looked after everyone all the way up. OX had us sorted with everything we needed, so all we had to do was enjoy the climb (and the views!). Getting to do a timed lap at the summit was a brilliant touch — a bit of friendly competition to finish off an incredible experience. Only bit of feedback: Axel could definitely work on his job-guessing skills — he was miles off, but we’ll let him off since he’s so good at everything else. Couldn’t recommend OX Adventures enough. If you’re in Guatemala, this is a must-do!

Incredible Experience - My daughter and I hiked Acatanango with Ox Expeditions. From start to finish, our experience was beyond our expectations. The staff is very professional, and accommodated our needs exceptionally. We highly recommend Ox, and can’t image a better tour to see the active volcano!

Amazing experience going to Acatenango and Fuego volcanos - Hiking the Acatenango volcano was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I have ever had. I recommend going with OX expeditions. Going with them, I could focus on doing the hike and the took care of the food and everything needed to going up there.

Unforgettable Acatenango Hike – OX Makes It Extraordinary - Had the most amazing time climbing Acetenango and Fuego with OX Expeditions. Massive thank you to all the OX guides, particularly Henry and Oscar, for all the help, support and fun times provided on this trip. OX organised everything for us, with safety paramount, and ensured everyone on the group had an unforgettable experience. The accomodation at base camp was awesome, and the food provided throughout the trip was perfect. I know from speaking with other groups on the trails that they didn't have the best tour guides. OX certainly were the best. Would highly recommend OX Expeditions, and I'll certainly use them again. Thanks for everything, it was one of the best experiences of my life (thanks Oscar and Henry!).

Best experience ever - Amazing experience! The hike is tough, but all worth it, when arriving at basecamp. I believe it’s more the mentally struggle than the actual hike. I recommend downloading a good podcast to keep your mind off the struggle. The tourguides Henrry, Miguelito and the third (I don’t remember the name, so sorry), were amazingly patience and sweet! Would 100% recommend them as your tour guides.

Best experience ever - I did the Acatenango Volcano Tour and it was an unforgettable experience! I’m not a professional hiker, but the team made everything very well organized and safe. The guides were supportive and encouraging throughout the hike, and the whole tour was perfectly arranged. Watching the volcano was absolutely breathtaking — truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Highly recommended!

Fuegotastic! - Entire trip was great, from start to end. The guides were very helpful and food was great as well. Saw 10-15 big eruptions, but we were definitely lucky with the weather. Would recommend taking a porter for 200qtz extra.
