My tour was cut short due to the protests in the capital, but the tour was still worth it. - We couldn’t do much due to the political protests going on in the capital city when I visited unfortunately. As a result, they called and offered me to cancel for a refund if I wanted but I chose to keep the tour because I only had 2 days in Madagascar. Nelson was my tour guide and he and his driver came and picked me up in a car (was extra) so we could do the tour safely, it wasn’t safe to do it by walking during the protests. All we got to do was go to the viewpoint on the highest hill in the city by the Andafiavaratra Palace and the Queen’s Palace during sunset, which was beautiful so I’m glad we did that. Keeping the your was worth it for me though and I asked Nelson at the end if he could give me a guided tour the next day outside the capital to some of the nature & wildlife preserves in the country which turned out to be an excellent choice. I’ll touch on that tour in another review but overall this was worth doing even if it was cut short from the political protests in the capital. Definitely consider doing this tour while you’re visiting the capital city of Madagascar, hope you get Nelson as your guide because he was excellent. - Nolan

Great way to learn about Malagasy culture - Our local guide Lanto took us on foot from our hotel in Independence Square up to the Queens Palace, stopping along various points of interest along the way (which we wouldn't have realised if travelling independently), and showed us around the museum in the Queens Palace. Lanto was very friendly and highly knowledgeable- sharing interesting stories about the Malagasy culture, and was able to answer all our questions. Remember to bring local cash for the Queens Palace (40k Ar per foreigner, plus 10k Ar for the local guide).

Great morning tour of Tana - I had a great tour with Nelson as my guide. He was very knowledgeable about the city and Madagascar's history in general. He also did a great job of adjusting the tour to my needs. I needed to find a few random shops to buy things and he helped figure it all out. Would definitely recommend the tour if you have some free time in Tana.

An helpful and enjoyable introduction to Antananarivo - Rabenirina was an excellent guide with good English. He gave me a good overview of the city. His suggestions for the best use of my time in Antananarivo were very helpful.

Exploring Antananarivo with Nelson - My guide Nelson was awesome. I left it open to him to show me around and he created a tour of each part of the city sharing its rich history as well as the history of Madagascar. I can thank him enough for the great tour. To allow us to get around more smoothly we used a taxi from my hotel to the city and from the market area to the palace before getting a taxi back to my hotel. If you love exploring, then this is a great way to better understand Madagascar and Antananarivo. Thank you Nelson.

the view from above is also beautiful a nice place to have the view so beautiful of Tananarive - the views were also beautiful on Tananarive and pleasant not to miss during the passage to Tananarive know more about the lives of the people we see in the passage

The best accommodation ever!! - My tour guide around the city was absolutely exceptional. He arrived promptly, exuding professionalism and warmth from the very start. Throughout the tour, he was incredibly attentive and patient, always ready to answer my questions and share fascinating insights. His extensive knowledge about Antananarivo brought the city to life, revealing its rich history and vibrant culture. I absorbed so much valuable information during our time together, and his engaging storytelling truly enhanced the experience. Overall, he provided an outstanding service that I will always remember.

Interesting and sone good parts, buf please listen to requests - I gave a very specific briefing: it was a work trip to investigate local markets with women informal businesses. I gave really important context. The veg, fish and spices insights at the market was good, and seeing the city view from the hill was also good. However I would have appreciated to know the rather significant fee i had to pay to get around via taxi (not beon surprised on the day); and also after repeatedly asking that we dont stand in the sun it was not tajen yo heart; and really: who cares to hear for a hole 15 minutes about ancestor exhumations and circumcisions... - I thought i was quite clear about my purpose and focus: gender roles in local informal business
