Interesting and fun. - A lovely way to spend 4 hours. Athanassia (sorry if I spelled that wrong) our guide was great. We learned about how olive oil is made, visited a small processing plant, tasted three types of local wine at a wine grower’s, and did an olive oil tasting before a delicious lunch, made locally. 10 out of 10.

The Best Land Excursion Around Kalamata!!!! - It was a beautiful day for a tour. Our concierge at the Grecotel resort in Kalamata had recommended this excursion. The drive up to the village of Androusa was delightful. There were many sights to see along the way. Make sure to go directly to the Castle of Androusa for the start of the tour. There we met Athanasia and Calliope. These two charming young ladies were very entertaining. They made the orientation to the castle ruins and the surrounding olive groves fun and very informative. It was a beautiful location. The views of the countryside are stunning. Pictures do not come close to showing the beauty of the area. We then traveled in our own vehicles to a small farm where the two tour guides gave us an orientation to the types of fruit and vegetables grown in the area. We also explored the small rustic stone cottage that the owners stay in during the growing season. We then traveled to the olive processing plant where we toured the facility and spoke with the owner. The entire process was fascinating. This excursion was topped off with an olive tasting. Calliope (an olive tasting expert) took us through the experience. We learnt a great deal about olive oil from this region. The building that housed the tasting and lunch was the original olive press. The final part of our tour was the lunch. The food was incredible. It was the most authentic Greek lunch that we have had during our entire trip. The food was prepare by Georgla. She lives in the village. Come hungry!!

A Perfect Blend of Culture, Knowledge, and Flavors in Androusa - We had an absolutely amazing experience on the wine and olive oil tasting tour near Kalamata, in Androusa. The tour was beautifully organized and full of genuine local charm. It started at a scenic lookout over the Messinia region, where our guide Athanassia shared fascinating insights about the area, the different olive varieties, and the deep cultural roots of olive growing in Greece. We then visited a local winery, where we enjoyed tasting wonderful regional wines while learning interesting details about their production. Next, we were taken to the olive oil mill, where the process of producing olive oil was explained in a very engaging and informative way. The olive oil tasting that followed was eye-opening — we learned how to distinguish between extra virgin, virgin, and lower-quality oils. The tour concluded with a delicious traditional lunch, homemade dessert, and wine — everything was simply perfect! Our hosts, Athanassia and Kalliopi, were exceptionally kind, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. They are true locals, owning and caring for their own olive trees and land, and they shared their authentic lifestyle and knowledge with such warmth. They went far beyond our expectations — this tour was worth much more than its price. We would love to visit again and strongly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the region. It’s a perfect blend of culture, flavor, and genuine Greek hospitality.

A Truly Unforgettable Experience — You Must Do This Tour! - I don’t even know where to begin — this tour was absolutely incredible. From the very first moment you meet Dimitra and Kaliopi, you feel like you’ve come home. Their warmth, passion, and generosity shine through everything they do. They even make the effort to speak everyone’s language, which makes guests from all over the world feel instantly welcome. We joined the tour as a family of four — my husband, myself, and our two teenage sons — and from start to finish, we were all completely engaged. The tour begins with a fascinating introduction to the olive groves, the land, and the generations of family history behind them. We learned the difference between olives for oil and table olives, how they’re cultivated, and the deep traditions that connect each harvest to the next. Next, we watched how olives are transformed into olive oil, tapenade, and soap — a process full of care and craftsmanship. Then came an olive oil tasting and a lesson on recognizing true quality and pairing different oils with different foods. Throughout it all, Dimitra and Kaliopi made the experience deeply personal. They took the time to learn our names, include us in their storytelling, and make every moment feel meaningful and genuine. And then came the lunch — an unforgettable meal of local dishes made with their own olive oil. Everything was delicious, fresh, and full of love. They even gave us handmade soaps as a thoughtful gift, and when we later went to purchase some of their wonderful products, they surprised us again with bottles of olive oil to take home. It was such a kind and heartfelt gesture that perfectly reflects who they are. We arrived as tourists but left feeling like family. This was without question the highlight of our trip to Greece. Even if you’re not in Kalamata, make the trip — this experience is truly one of a kind!
