Anchorage in a Day - Brooks was prompt to pick us up. He was very pleasant and engaging. Shared lots of info about the area. There were numerous stops with just the right amount of time at each - so we could get lots of pictures and videos. Locations were well chosen.
The van was clean and comfortable. We had a tasty lunch.

Exceptional! - Brooks, our tour guide, was exceptional. He deserves every superlative possible. His Alaska history and details of the area were beyond my expectation. With scenery like that, you wouldn't think you were missing anything. He MADE the trip even more amazing than the views. Thanks, Cowboy!

Great way to spend a day! - We flew into Anchorage to spend two nights before boarding a cruise in Whittier, mid-September. We had only one full day to explore Anchorage, so we booked this full-day excursion to make the most of our time. We booked this small group tour (we had 11 people) online directly on the Welcome Anchorage Tours site, four months in advance. Registration was quick and easy. A confirmation email was quickly received, and it had all the information we needed.
The morning of, our guide texted us with an expected arrival time for pick up at our hotel, which was pretty spot-on. We picked up the remainder of the group at the various hotels and were on our way to travel the Seward Highway. Elizabeth did a great job driving the small bus and narrating the entire time.
The vistas along the drive were wonderful, but even more spectacular when we stopped at numerous spots and got out of the bus. This is when you get a better look at the glaciers. The highlight for us at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Centre was seeing the bears roaming, right along the path just on the other side of the fence where we were standing.
We stopped for lunch ($$) at “Basecamp” in Girdwood. We selected Smoked Salmon & Clam Chowder, Seared Ahi Tuna, Stuffed Mushrooms. The food was great! Elizabeth had called in advance, so our table was waiting and the service was quick and friendly. We were on our way in no time.
We were lucky and had a fabulous day weather-wise. Everyone was in a good mood and enjoying the experience and the journey. We enjoyed the entire day and the camaraderie of our fellow passengers. We definitely recommend this excursion. Thanks!

Downtown Anchorage half the time - They advertise it as wildlife and nature, but literally half of it was in downtown Anchorage and surrounding areas. There is some value to that, but they should have said that in the description or title. The second half was in nature; including glaciers and animals in the Alaska wildlife conservation center, which’s very beautiful. It’s recommended if you keep in mind that not all of it is nature.

Just OK … - Too much time circling around in Anchorage. We probably drove by the Hilton five times … seemed very randomly planned . Tour guide talked a LOT …. Some interesting, some about Nome and his family; he also sang (?) and commented in a disparaging way about some homeless people we saw. It was super windy and intermittent rain, which of course the tour company can’t control but it really put a damper on photo ops. Very good lunch in Girdwood. No hikes (fine with me, but some were disappointed), even very short ones. Viator customer service rep who I contacted in advance to find out about weather/attire/etc. was not helpful.

Great Tour (Uncomfortable Van)! - The tour was informative, Brooks was a knowledgeable guide and the views were spectacular!
However, the transportation (basically a shuttle van) was extremely uncomfortable and is the main reason for the rating. There were 10 of us on the van and my husband and I were seated at the very back of the shuttle. My husband, who was the tallest on the tour at around 6'1, had difficulty getting on and off the van during the 7-hour excursion. He had to squeeze past the side of the van for each exit.
Brooks did a great job sharing information about each stop and providing great context about Alaskan culture. I would, however, recommend a different tour company if mobility is a factor.
