A Canal Cruise With Brains, Charm and a Bit of Time Travel - A Canal Cruise With Brains, Charm and a Bit of Time Travel VR Voyage isn’t your typical Amsterdam canal tour, it’s the upgrade you didn’t know you needed. Think history, tech, cheese, and charm, all packed into one stylishly old boat. Yes, the vessel itself is a beautifully preserved piece of Amsterdam’s heritage, so the experience starts even before the engines do. What sets this apart is the balance. About 80 percent of the time, you’re headset-free, soaking in the actual views with an audio guide (available in English and Dutch). Then comes the twist: the VR moments. These are short, seamless, and surprisingly moving , peeks into Amsterdam’s layered past and imaginative future. The headset setup takes a minute, but the crew walks you through it patiently and checks in individually, which keeps things smooth even for the less tech-savvy. The crew deserves its own review. Uncle Pete, the VR boat master, brings a warmth and playfulness that turns the tour from memorable to personal. His commentary, along with Michiel’s (a real person), lands somewhere between insightful and entertaining, the kind of storytelling that keeps you listening, not just looking. It was also fascinating to watch the captain skilfully steer the boat using the massive old wheel, a quiet reminder that you're not just on a tour, you're aboard a piece of living history. Comfort-wise, they’ve thought of everything. The boat is covered, which matters when Dutch weather does its usual unpredictable dance. It rained during my ride, but the sliding windows kept us dry and cozy. As soon as the skies cleared, the windows opened up again for fresh air and views. There's even a mini toilet on board, just in case, and yes, a proper bar. You’re served a drink and a little Dutch cheese snack while you glide through the canals, which adds a touch of indulgence to the whole thing. In short, skip the generic canal boat with headphones and a script. This is immersive, interactive, and intelligently crafted. VR Voyage blends past, present, and possibility, and still finds time to serve you wine and cheese. What more could you want? :-)

Great tour - We have done canal trips in previous visits to Amsterdam but this was such a nice way to bring the history alive. The tech was easy to use and added a great dimension to the tour. The boat was comfortable and the staff were excellent.

Incredible experience of history and beauty! - This tour was incredible! So good to soak in a little bit of Amsterdam history, the right mix between seeing it all live and through the VR. The guys were also so great throughout the entire tour. Couldn’t recommend more highly! Have lived in Amsterdam for a year now and done many canal tours and this is far and away the best.
