A unique museum unlike any other science museum - This is a museum like no other and does what other science museums don't - show you the real human body. Sure, you may see skeletons in other museums, but can you see a recreation of blood vessels using the real thing, or what muscles look like during certain activities? What about what's inside your head, but from a real person...this is only a fraction of what Body Worlds Amsterdam showcases and although it may seem graphic or macabre, the museum showcases how, as a human species, we may look different, but we are all (mostly) the same. The display features real people who have donated their bodies to be exhibited, alongside easy-to-understand biological explanations of the body in various situations, as well as separate parts of the body, to see the inner-workings of a human. Tickets are booked according to selected entrance times. Entrance for adults is €22.50 (£19.62) and Children (6-17) is €13.50 (£11.77). This museum isn't really suited for children, given the medically-graphic displays in some areas. We booked on a Friday afternoon and the museum wasn't particularly busy. We spent approximately over 90 minutes at the museum, which included displays across various floors, with an optional test at the end, to measure your body and find results on certain areas attributable to you.

A very interesting museum! - We had a great experience at Body Worlds. The attraction spans several floors with real human specimens and interactive displays, including blood pressure monitors, body scanners, and a personalised body summary at the end. Information is provided in both English and Dutch, making it easy to follow. Lockers are available for a small card-operated fee. We spent around 1.5 hrs here. Tickets can be cheaper if booked in advance, though we bought ours at the door with cash, ticket staff were friendly and spoke good English. Despite being popular, it wasn’t overcrowded, allowing plenty of time to enjoy the exhibits. One small suggestion for Body Worlds: please replace the pens on the final floor — we would have liked to leave a message, but none were working.

Smaller but still educational - Not sure why there was even a controversy when these exhibits first started. I have been to a few of these museums starting in 1999 in Germany, and all the exhibits were well presented, this one in Amsterdam is no exception. It’s a bit smaller than others, but still very well organized and detailed explanations attached to each exhibits.

Evening visits are very much quieter. - As there always seemed to be queues during the day, we decided to visit at 8.30 in the evening as its open until 10pm. On a Thursday night in March, we basically had the place to ourselves. Very interesting exhibition, and I'd always wanted to see it since it was featured in the James Bond film Casino Royale, (which the museum pays homage to). The museum really explained how the human body works and staff member Louise ensured we received a good price discount.

Soooo interesting. - Not on our original list of things to do but one of the best things we did. Very interesting museum about the human body. Definitely worth the money if you are in Amsterdam and nothing like it elsewhere.

Strangely dull. - I don’t know how interesting and useful this might be if you are studying anatomy etc. but for me (who isn’t) it was disappointing. The trouble was that every body looked exactly the same just put into different positions. The theme of happiness was spurious. The ethics of the exhibition are fine by me as the adult bodies were willing donated. Not so obviously for the series of foetuses and embryos. The origins/authenticity of these was not made clear though a Google search suggests they are from an inherited collection. What is the process for consent for these? It was expensive and oddly dull - respect the fact I might be in the minority here.
