A powerful experience of a rich Jewish history here in Amsterdam - The depth and breadth of the Jewish experience in Amsterdam and beyond is creatively presented in 3 floors, including the synagogue that became a safe place to learn more of this history. It really helped that the museum wasn’t so busy during our visit on Monday, so we were able to go deeper into the many offerings… it’s set up for an intimate exploration which we were fortunate to have on this day. The live interviews (returning from the camps and present day thoughts on being Jewish), stories, photos and artifacts from this rich complex history are impactful especially after walking around this fascinating city. We spent five hours here. Learned so much and appreciate all that was put into this interwoven experiential journey. You could come for a lot less time. … it was a lot to assimilate. The ticket is good for a week and includes entrance to the Portugese Synagogue/museum across the street.

Interesting facts about the Jewish community in Amsterdam through the ages - The museum building is actually the old Ashkenazi synagogue. This gives an authentic experience as you move through the different eras of the Jewish community in Amsterdam. There are moving real life stories from survivors of WWII but the museum doesn't just focus on the Holocaust, there are some fascinating facts about the Jewish way of life in general. Tickets to this museum will also get you into the Portuguese synagogue just across the road. The Jewish museum is next to the Holocaust memorial where you can find Anne (Anneliese) Frank's stone alongside her sister and mother.

Jewish life in Amsterdam - My husband & I toured and found it interesting. Liked that with your ticket purchase you got the audio to learn about the exhibits & entrance to the synagogue across the street. Unfortunately they were doing some construction, a bit noisy near the gift shop area & entrance. Definitely worth going to.

Interesting visit - Lots of historical information about Jewish history and also items of use within the Jewish religious traditions. Really good little video clips of real people telling their story. Free entry into the Portuguese synagogue too which was also interesting to see.

It is more than the Holocaust - It's important to remember when you visit museums that the Jewish people in Amsterdam are more than the Holocaust. This is not a Holocaust museum, but rather a vibrant look into continued Jewish life in Amsterdam. It was especially interesting to visit the synagogue and learn about Jewish life, laws, and the parts of a Jewish service. There was an especially moving exhibit where modern day Dutch Jews spoke about the Holocaust and what Jewish life means to them in relation to the Holocaust and generational trauma. We used I AMSTERDAM card Walk across the street to the Portuguese Synagogue included in the ticket price. No food small gift shop nice bathrooms lockers to store bags elevators - handicap accessible audio guide
