Very nice afternoon tour - We had a lovely tour of the city, with audio guide and the captain chiming in on occasion. You get to enjoy the canals and some of the highlights around them. It's a quick tour, just an hour, but very enjoyable. Also, if it's cold, you'll be happy it's not much longer, and also that the boat isn't fully open!

Canal cruise in 2019, not 2023 - Lovers Cruise in 2019, not 2023. We had done the Lovers Canal cruise previously in 2017 and did another in 2019. We enjoyed both cruises, the views were amazing and the information provided was great. Would definitely recommend if you haven't done one before.

1 hour cruise along the canals - I really enjoyed this 1 hour boat ride. It was a bit confusing to find the boat (as it was not next to their big sign where some of their other boats take off from) but I just asked at the kiosk and they pointed me in the right direction. The audio was provided via a recording that you plugged free, complementary headphones into and was in a range of different language options. The boat has windows and panels, so sometimes more difficult to take photos from, but it was really relaxing to float down the canals and learn a bit of Amsterdam history. There are other boats that have drinks etc on them - this is not one, but that didn’t impact the enjoyment of this tour at all. Would recommend to anyone who’s looking to see Amsterdam from the canals.

Fun tour - It was a fun little tour. Finding the location and entering the boat were a little confusing but doable by asking people for help.

Good 1-hour overview of parts of the city from the canals - This place was directly across the canal from our hotel and the central train station. It appeared that there were some other tour options just across the bridge from here also. I think there are more departure points (some for this company and some for others) at other spots also. This was convenient for us and the cost seemed in line with what other places were charging (between 15 and 20 Euros per person). I think there are options where you can get a cocktail / beer / wine on some cruise, but this wasn't one of those. There is ticket kiosk just off the bridge where they sell tickets to multiple different Amsterdam attractions, including the cruise. There was a short line when we arrived but it moved quickly. I think that, during peak hours, they have boats leaving every 15 - 20 minutes. There wasn't a need to check scheduling online, but they probably have one listed on a website. The tour lasted about an hour and covered several different areas. It was mostly a recorded narration (you got free, cheap headsets which you plugged in at your seat and selected the language by channel). The boat driver sometimes chimed in where there was no recording. We took this on our first afternoon in Amsterdam and were somewhat dazed and jetlagged. We might have gotten more out of it some other day, but the weather was nice. My only other observation is that these boats have sides with windows, but the top is mostly open (unless it is raining). If you have an interest in taking photos from the boat (assuming it is not raining), you might want to opt for a boat with no sides or roof for better field of vision. I did see other companies with that type of boat. It seemed sort of obligatory to do a canal cruise while in Amsterdam, and this company was more than adequate to check that off your itinerary.

Disappointing experience - Reusable innerear headphones- not sure if disposed of or cleaned after use. Commentary started late and non-consistent, no background music when there was no commentary- wouldn't class it as a "tour" as not much commentary afew interesting facts. Would recommend doing research and comparing different cruises before selecting one.

Choose a ride in an open boat - The covered boat made it difficult to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Amsterdam's canals. Both because the view through the windows was limited, but also because there were quite a lot of noisy guests on board this trip. An audio guide with the option to choose from several different languages is offered. A few days later we took a similar trip in a smaller and open boat. This experience was a completely different and much better. This trip was with Mokumboot, who has an English speaking guide on board. Lovers Canal Cruises and Mokumboot are both free with the City Card.

Disappointed. - Crowded boat, staff unhelpful and rude Dirty window’s, only 1 staff on boat who was the driver when someone got stuck in the toilet the driver had to leave his seat to help When we returned he tied up the boat and got off to smoke Nobody was there to assist or ensure people get off the boat safety When we were getting on and noticed the boat was crowed the staff just said they had to change boats and we all had to squeeze on No apologies made. My suggestion would be to try a different tour company.
