• Emperor’s Canal (Keizersgracht) - The journey begins in the Royal Streets, specifically on the Keizersgracht or Emperor’s Canal, adjacent to the Jordaan district. This area is a stunning, untouched part of town located at the northern end of the canal district. The cruise starts here and concludes outside Amsterdam’s original hat factory, ‘Het Rode Hood’ (The Red Hat).
• The Jordaan - The first district on the cruise is always a favorite for exploration both by boat and on foot. It is a delightful, tranquil area just outside the city center, away from the busy tourist spots.
• Anne Frank House - As the cruise heads south through the Jordaan district, it passes by the Anne Frank House. If visiting the museum is part of your plans, it’s just a five-minute walk from the departure dock. Be sure to book tickets in advance!
• Canal Ring (Grachtengordel) - The cruise continues around the Canal Belt or Canal Ring, navigating through the scenic waterways and passing the beautifully preserved 17th-century canal houses, heading towards the River Amstel.
• The Amstel - At the conclusion of the original canal belt, the cruise reaches the iconic Amstel River, the only natural river in Amsterdam and the origin of the city’s name. Here, the beautiful Skinny Bridge and numerous famous landmarks can be seen.
• Herengracht - The return journey takes you through the Herengracht or Gentleman’s Canal, showcasing the largest mansion houses in the city center. This area, known as the Golden Bend, was home to the wealthiest merchant families. The ornate facades often illustrate the trade of these merchant families.
